nationwide flex account application

Currently with natwest but i've decided i'm going to get a back up account just in case i cancel. i'd heard good things about nationwide and like the personal touch that some seem to say they offer. i applied for the flex account and was accepted it didn't mention an overdraft so i assume i haven't got one but i'm happy to wait 6 -12 months and let them see how i handle the account.
They did say i would have to provide documents which i assume are passport and statement unusual as usually its just verified online but reading some posts i see its quite common with nationwide. I didnt' request the transfer option so i can pick and choose which DD's i cancel with natwest when i do make the change over. I wonder if i will get the cashcard account ? but they did show the blue visa debit card picture on when i finished the application and did call it the flex account.

No you haven't got the Cash Card account, you've been approved for the Flex.0

reading some of the older posts i am starting to believe i may have the cash card lol they still call it the flex account but they only give you the pink card.
i've only just had my natwest debit card upgraded to purple but i'm still wanting to keep my options open and nationwide seem to have good offers for current customers.0 -

They do indeed supply the Cashcard+ to some Flex Account customers, if they do it's worth remembering you don't qualify for the extras like free Travel Insurance and possibly even a Cheque Book.0 -
yes i read that but i think your able to request an upgrade within 6 months of opening. can you still apply for savings accounts with a cashcard+ ? i suppose i'll find out in 5 days time what i've been given.0

Do you mean do they have any savings accounts with a Cashcard+? if so I am not aware of any. If you mean can you apply for savings if you get a Cashcard+ on your Flex Account then I couldn't see why not.
Good luck!0 -
for any nationwide customers can the cash card+ be the blue one or is it always the pink card ? i shouldn't be so picky but i don't really want one saying cash card on it either
edit muligan - i wondered if i would get the same rates of interest on savings with a cashcard + account but its probably best to just wait and see what comes through the post. thanks for the information.0 -

Unfortunately Cashcard+ is always the pink one. I don't think it will have any bearing on savings rates, it can have a bearing on lending rates though but even if you get the Visa Debit card you need to fully transfer your account to avail yourself to the reward deals.0 -
6 days on and no further information via post or email from nationwide regarding opening the account. is this usual ? i thought i'd get a standard letter requesting ID within a day or so of applying not overly impressed so far with them.0

My scenario is different from yours in that I already had a flexaccount and was upgrading to a flexdirect account to get the 5% interest on £2,500. I applied for an upgrade on 21st April received an email and letter on 25th April updating me on the progress of the upgrade, another email on 27th April stating that my account was now open for use. It is unusual for Nationwide not to contact you, I did not get a confirmation email when I applied for the upgrade but Nationwide are usually very good with keeping in touch. Contact them on their freephone 0800 302010 to put your mind at rest."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

thanks for the info i assume with being a new customer i'll have to provide a specimen signature passport etc which will delay it even further. I've already phoned last week regarding my account and CS said everything had gone through she even gave me my customer number but i can't log on as i need a card to register. I did mention providing the ID information but then at the end of the conversation she concluded it by saying that all i was now waiting for is my delivery of the card which can take 7-10 days but assumed she'd got confused as they haven't even sent me a request for further information yet.0
