There's a difference between parking on a private road, and dropping someone off.

However, the police are never ones to be shown up as being wrong, so they will invent some excuse to move you on, anti-terrorism being an easy get-out for them to get away with anything.

Yes, but you implied that the police have no powers on private roads, the consensus from the regular posters in the parking forum is that they have.

Just didn't want people reading your reply and leaving themselves open to police action.

Thanks for this - a great help. It is strange the police did not know this as they told me there was not a free drop off. Obviously it is really poorly advertised. They said I had no choice but to pay!
