Private road and the police.

Near work there is, what is posted as, a private road. This road has double yellows down both sides. There are some old signs regarding clamping etc.
This road is being used by a lot workers to park on as it is closer than the proper car park. They are not causing an obstruction.
In a brief, given by our union, the other day it was said that there had been some complaints (don't know who from) about parking there and the police had been involved and it could result in people being clamped or fined.
There is now a debate as to whether the police can/will clamp/fine anyone parked on a private road.
Thoughts please

They can. The residents could complain and ask the Police or Council to get the cars removed.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The police now have the powers to remove vehicles from any land and charge owners for the privilege.0

OK thanks, not that it will probably make a difference but it is on an industrial estate so no residents.0 -

They are sort of residents even though it's an industrial estate.0 -

I would advise that you don't park there any longer, if the vehicle gets towed it would probably cost £200-£300 at a minimum. If you get a FPN it is enforceable and would come in at least £60. Tell your colleagues to use the car park that is availableWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Oh, I don't park there, it is only an extra minute or two to walk to the car park, which prevents you from getting snarled up in the rush to be first away.Prefer to take my time and not sit in traffic for 5 minutes waiting.
