Does a DSL Router include a Cable Modem ??

The phone is on separate line through NTL/Virgin (separate from STB).Haven't used cable as I live out in the sticks. Do you also have a phone service, and if so how does that connect, through the STB or a separate adapter?
It all comes from small outside box on wall through cable.

So, if I get separate DSL Cable Modem installed, they will just use Splitter to connect coax between STB & new Cable Modem ??Cable broadband works over the same co-ax cable the TV signal is sent, if you have a cable modem them the incoming co-ax is simply split into two, one goes to the TV, the other goes to the cable modem.
You can use the modem in the STB but it isn't capable of the faster speeds.
Is that correct ??
Just wanted to check that if I ask for separate cable modem, they won't have to install another cable through whole flat. It would be difficult installing another cable through my flat to back room.

Yes, they'd install a splitter near to the point of entry.
