They are very popular at our school due to the no-rubbish lunch policy that has come in as part of the "sustainable schools" certification.

What a great idea. I try to use as little wrapping as possible - but ds2 is going on a school trip tomorrow and we have been told that the whole lunch has to be disposable in a plastic bag - they can't bring anything home with them - Grrrrrr!

My daughter has gone on a school trip to France. They left last night and had to take supper for last night, breakfast for this morning and lunch for today as well! I'd rather they had added a few quid on to the price of the trip and let them buy lunch today. Just hoping it stays fresh and they don't all go down with food poisoning. Wish I had had my Bento box to send her with, although she probably would have left it up the Eiffel Tower.

What a lovely idea! I think I might have to invest in a box, as it's such a faff trying to bring savoury and sweet fruit in to work - too many bags/foil/cling film! I'm off to ebay!

Pandora123 - I love that site! That lady is so amazingly creative - lucky kid!

I've been umming and arring over buying one of these type lunchbox. At the moment I just have a few locknlock tiny boxes which all get thrown in my bag, but its not idea. I have this wierd thing with food where it can be my most favourite thing ever, but there comes a point where I feel if i eat any more i'll get nauseous ... and I'm not even that full! Anyway so having small amounts of things is good for me. am going to look for a japanese shop in london, otherwise it will be to ebay I go....

If you're looking for a Japanese shop in central London, then probably the best place is the Japan Centre, in Piccadilly. There's also a small Japanese shop just on Putney Bridge, but their stock is fairly limited. I'm not really sure about areas outside of the south west - there is a small shop that sells lots of Korean/Japanese stationary and bits in Kingston, but it's closing down (might be good for bargains though lol). Also New Malden has lots of Korean shops, possibly you might find something there?
  • i love making little lunches like this for my 2-year old when he needs a packed lunch. he calls it a nic-nic.
nothing as fancy as these .. i usually cut his sandwiches into stars or hearts though!

this has inspired me to be more creative.. and i want some of the proper boxes..
how do you stop the yoghurt falling out of the silicone cases and going everywhere?

thank god for the dishwasher though,.. all those faffy bits to wash up!!

They're fantastic! You can portion up veg and fruit, dry snacks, sandwiches, rice balls, cakes etc. etc. You can also get dipping sauce pots and eating with chopsticks makes you eat slower (in theory at least but I can eat just as quickly with them now after lots of practise)
