  • Just a thought, what about some leggings to cover the legs with a pair of cute ankle boots and a nice floaty top or even a dress type kaftan top? Most leggings cover the feet (or in my experience they do!!):rotfl:

Thanks everyone. I didn't expect such a response!

I've ordered a range of the skirts (including the Wallis one before I read your excellent advice - but I will return it I promise!), some flat shoes, a maxi dress and I bought some camel coloured ankle boots today on the way into work. They are much lighter, and while not white, they look much better than the dark brown ones. The contrast to the white is more gentle.

I can go shopping tomorrow in Westfield, so I will see what I find and keep you posted.

I hear what you are saying about white shoes not being appropriate for work... but I think I will see if I can find something that works. I'm quirky/confident enough to give it a try. There are some white with black accent that are quite professional, but maybe still look a tad naff against the bright white stockings.

I like the floaty top / leggings things, but thats only for social I think. I can pretend the white stocking are the leggings! Or even a dress if I can find shoes and just pretend I'm wearing white leggings. Again... it's the shoes that are the problem. Hopefully more ideas once I go shopping.

It's nice to go shopping actually. I'm back at work after 3 months sick leave, and all my old clothes look so... well... old, so it feels like time to changeover lots of things anyway.

Oh, and I'm not Kalinda Sharma, although I would love to be!!
  • Maxi skirts are really pretty, I love wearing them in summer as do all my friends (we're all around 21).

A nice black one would be perfect I think. As for shoes, you can get nice loafer style shoes or boat shoes from places such as River Island for under £30 and they are good quality. I would wear shoes like that in summer too and luckily the English wear isn't great :)

You should also think about getting some 'palazzo' style trousers (from somewhere like New Look, under £20) which are pretty floral flared high-waisted trousers... I love them!! So nice for summer! :)
