I am thinking of renewing my mobile deal on a SIM-only basis and buying an iPhone either refurbished directly from Apple, or second hand on eBay.

I was wondering whether, in either or both the latter two cases, I would be able to find an insurance policy for it, or do all the deals on the market pnly apply to new phones?

Does anyone know?

I don't want to knock your idea of second hand or ebay. just be aware that some people have been left with a phone that stops working after a few weeks.

This may be due to the original owner reporting it stolen/the company that had the contract with the original owner turning off the phone for what ever reason (none payment etc)

Just be aware of this when you buy second hand from ebay or other such places as a note from the seller is not actual proof that the phone is theres to sell.

    Good luck

I buy all my iPhones on eBay with no issues (6 so far). With insurance some firms will not accept anything other than the original sales invoice of the device - and an eBay invoice is not seen as being 'original'.

You need to find out what proof of ownership the insurer insists on, and check it out before parting with any money.
  • I have heard good things about buying from Apple as I believe they give you some kind of guarantee. Also, your household insurance might cover it. Mine does.
