I hear that if you want to give the car back early you have to pay 90% of the outstanding lease payments - in which case you may as well just hang on to the car until the end of the lease period.0

no way! but thanks for your advise
I am 29 and have a full time jobjust want to understand it all 100% that's all :T
Good idea to go into it with your eyes open.
Here's some advice from What Car.
http://www.whatcar.com/car-leasing/advice/whats-the-best-type-of-personal-car-lease-for-me
Unless you're 100% certain that you will be able to comfortably afford the lease payments, the insurance, the servicing, the final document fee, any repairs not covered by the warranty, the cost of new tyres and brake pads if needed, the road tax and breakdown cover in year 2 and 3 if not covered by the lease, then I can't see why anyone would consider a lease.
Even then, add in the fact that you will be locked in despite any future change in employment or personal circumstances (both good and bad). Who knows what's around the corner?
Then add in the fact that you're paying well over the odds for a brand new car (which may well not be the 100% reliable car you hope for). Effectively you're paying for the same massive depreciation that an owner would suffer.
Then add in the fact that you're paying for finance.
Then add in the fact that you have no choice about how you care for the car. (You can't decide that a few scratches don't matter. It's not your car.)
Now think about how you could spend that money better.
Ineffecient cars, for example, are dropping in price like a stone, thanks to petrol prices. A reliable but thirsty car would be cheap to buy, but expensive to run. Just like a finance deal.
Instead of £2k deposit, you spend £1.5k on a car and £500 on servicing and a couple of repairs.
Instead of £150/ month on lease and £50 on petrol, you spend £100 on petrol and put £100 in the bank towards repairs and/ or a deposit on your next car.
Instead of £150/ year on servicing, you spend £50.
The best bit is, if you don't have money one month, you just stop driving. There's no big nasty man who comes to take the car away and mess up your credit file.
Just a thought...0 -

Again, depends on the brand. There is no general leasing rule, as implied here. Some brands may only want maybe 3 payments to terminate. Check the contract.0 -
thinking about getting
Vauxhall Corsa 1.3
http://www.lingscars.com/Vauxhall/Corsa/1842357-1.3_CDTi_16v_%2873bhp%29_ecoFLEX_Limited_Edition_Hatchback_5dr_1248cc-personal.html#models
questions:
1. Which Corsa is it?
http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/vehicles/vauxhall-range/cars/corsa-5-door/offers-and-benefits/private-buyer.html
there is no 1.3 litre or am I blind?
2. Is it going to be made this year 2013 or 2012?
3. is Vauxhall Servicing expensive? as it's not included in the deal0 -
Only thing I can add is that sometimes you can't find certain specifications.
Such as metallic paint or an automatic gearbox.
But other than that she has a good reputation from what I have heard and the prices do seem good.
She certainly doesn't hide anything.
A quirky yet informative website.
If I was ever going to lease a new car I would definitely have them on the short list.0 -

The 1.3 cdti has been around for a while now. Since at least 2008, thugj not sure if it is still the same engine.
Long says it is a 1248cc engine, is that what you read on the Vauxhall site.
The only person that can answer the 2012 model or 2013 model question would be Lingcars.
But it isn't unusual for lease companies to source cancelled orders or older stock in last years colour range or interior trim to allow them to provide a cheaper price for the customer.
I would email them and ask what you need to know then go to a Vauxhall dealer and get a quote for the same car.
Vauxhall or not overly expensive to service, but where you live in the UK can affect labour rates greatly.0 -

I'm on my second car from Ling and can only sing her praises. I can also guarantee that she will be reading this thread - she dosent miss a thing!
Regarding specs if you cant see it or want a factory build just ask for a quote - she can get anything. My first car from Ling had factory options on it, and my second was standard, bu I still had to wait 6 weeks for it to be built0 -

what happens if you hit your car(or someone) or you get a bad scratch on it? you ofcourse will need to take it to a garage, but it will never look as good as new, do the dealer charge you badly for that at the end of the contract when you give it back?0 -
I've handed back :-
A 318i stolen/recovered/extensive damage/repaired - was collected and went straight to auction - no charge to me.
An A3 - no charge to me - car had a minor scuff to 1 alloy
My mate handed back :-
An E320i Merc - was charged for grass clippings left in the boot.
It depends on manufacturer but Merc are notoriously bad - some would even say they're trying it on due to the recession.
There's an acceptable limits guide available to view - google it.0 -
Do you have to have squeaky clean credit history to be accepted?0
