Car left in our road

A car has been parked in our road (public road) for several weeks now. Hasn't moved and no-one around here knows who it belongs to.
Has a tax disc so the council won't consider it abandoned.
Checked AskMid and it's not insured. On that basis, is there anything we can do? Worth a call to the local police station?

Yes, it could have been stolen and dumped and the police may have no knowledge of it being there."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

Just call the police.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

If its not insured and on the public highway I can see no reason for the plod not to get it towed away.0

They have no power to for one reason. They can only seize vehicles they have witnessed being driven without insurance, not for merely keeping a vehicle on a road without it.
However, as stated above, it may have been stolen and at the very least, the local police can visit the registered keeper and tell him/her to get it off the road and possibly deal with the offences.0 -

It is an offence for an uninsured vehicle to be on the road, and the police will deal with it if they are aware of it.
As I pointed out earlier, the vehicle may have been stolen, dumped, and if enough time has elapsed, the insurance may have been cancelled and the policy have been paid out to the owner - all while it's been parked in the OP's road. Hence it will come up as not insured on AskMid."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. You're only allowed to be uninsured if it's SORNed. And if it's SORNed you're not allowed to park on the road.
It was one of our neigbours who first mentioned it to us. No-one they or we have asked knows whose it is and it hasn't moved for weeks (as far as we know).
We live opposite a hospital so it could be someone who had an appointment and ended up getting admitted or something.
Didn't want to report it for a while longer just in case it is someone's but now I know it's uninsured it's annoying me. I'll ring the local station tonight. Just scared of getting beaten up by someone who lives in the area whose car it is!0 -
