The Beast of Bolsover isnt totally useless though, He did object to the moving of PMQs on the day of Maggies funeral.
Only him and Gorgeous George objected , but it was enough.

thats ok then. he objects just to be awkward.... , but when on of his constituents has a valid issue, he tells them to go and talk to someone else0 -
Well I was pleased that he objected, he has also spoken out a lot on the benefit cuts, but as he's not my mp I have no idea how he operates as as a constituency mp.
He's probably better than my Tory mp, he's about as much use as a chocolate teapot, he's the only Tory in Scotland, but isn't scottish secretary!!!

My local councillor Alison Thewlis put a rocket up Glasgow City Councils bottom when they owed me 3 months of LHA.
I've never had bother with DLA and don't claim the others.0 -
The problem is that you can't get a fag paper between the two parties when it comes to welfare reform. Don't forget it was labour who brought in ESA and they have agreed that the DLA gateway needs to be reformed i.e. they are more or less content with PIP.
So in reality there are very very few MPs who are against the cuts to disability benefits.
My MP is a right tory boy and has voted in favour of all his nasty party's cuts and changes. Any pleas to him regarding welfare issues fall on deaf ears which I suppose is par for the course if you're tory.0 -

Surely an MP is one of the last ports of call once you have exhausted the appeal system?
This depends on your individual circumstances - EVERYONE is ENTITLED to ask their own MP for assistance in any matter - especially problems involving a government department - where an MP has extra pulling power....0 -
my local councillor is an independant, and so has no political affilliation to any of the main parties. it seems to make a big difference. he has no agenda and genuinely seems to act on behalf of the people that elected him.( which is how it should be)
he regularly knoacks on peoples doors in his ward to ask id everything is ok and if there are any issues that he could hekp with,
i am aware that Mr Skinner represents a much larger area, but the only time you ever hear anything from him or his office is when he wants to be re elected.
on the several occasions i have contacted him, i get a prompt reply. but it always points me in the direction of someone else who is 'responsible'0 -
Never had a problem claiming benefit. DLA currently was awarded low mobility, but appealing this and having no award for care. A MP would be the last place I would go, followed by our local Citizen Advice!0

5 years ago - I applied for DLA, had a "home assessment" and was awarded max care and mobility - received 6 months worth - some £3000 - then out of the blue received a letter informing me that they had made a mistake and wanted it all back - with no entitlement, at all...
So I wrote to DLA and asked them for a re-assessment - they refused - at this point, I brought in my MP - And less than a week later, received a letter (no apology !!!) - informing me that I had been reassessed as being entitled to mid care and low mobility and that my overpayment was being overlooked !!
This is the reason that I recommend using your MP.0 -
My MP is George Osbourne. Don't think I will have much luck with him somehow.0

of course everyone is entitled but it doesn't mean to say that as soon as you send a claim form off you get your MP involved!
There is a recognised system within the DWP to deal with problems, appeals, complaints etc.
Your MP would not be too happy if everytime you had a hiccup with your benefit claims, you dragged him/her into the matter. He/she would expect you to go through the normal channels first.0
