I have said it before - Use your MP as a 1st line of appeal against any disability benefits problem - that is what they are paid (too much) to do !!
I have found. in the past. that they are more than willing to help -
I had IB problems (almost 20 yrs ago - one letter to my MP - Sorted.
I had DLA problems - one email to my (different town) MP - Sorted
I had ESA problems - one email to my (differerent party) MP - Sorted

MPs rely on us for their livelihoods - so make use of them - if they won't help - post their names here - they will soon change their minds !!

Everyone is entitled to assistance from their OWN MP - Rather than annoying "other" MPs
Thanks - Dennis Skinner is on the HIT LIST !!
I thought that the labour party would be first to help poor unsuspecting people who have been ground down by the tories ?
If he won't help - the local papers - "name and shame"

i think ( and its my opinion only) that MP's are a different breed of people.
they may start out with good intentions, but that fades rapidly.
it takes a certain type of person to want 'power'.
i will help anyone that i can. i dont want recognition for the fact that ive done the decent thing.

The Beast of Bolsover isnt totally useless though, He did object to the moving of PMQs on the day of Maggies funeral.

Only him and Gorgeous George objected , but it was enough.

My old MP (Labour) was excellent, always willing to help, and would visit people at home if they were not able to get to him. My current MP (Conservative) is useless - despite the fact he doesn't even understand the welfare reforms, he still defends the party line.

Twinkle, you are correct. No MP should tell you to direct it to a minister, it breaks several rules. I struggle to believe an MP who is such an antagonist would ever do that!

OP,in my opinion your poll is not really usefull at all.

In order for a poll to be relevant it must include options for people to vote who have had no problems with DLA or ESA.

Without such options your poll can only reflect the views of people who have had problems and as such it can only ever reflect negative experiences.

  • shame the poll omits "non of the above"

Before involving your MP don't you think that it may be a better idea to use the system already set up to deal with benefit decisions in the first place?

Surely an MP is one of the last ports of call once you have exhausted the appeal system?
