Looking at moving to Nottingham for.. House prices? Jobs?

I am looking at moving to Nottingham for work and cheaper house prices, everything seems to fit except that I'm worried about the crime rate in Nottingham TBH That is my only real concern.. My line of work is customer service help desk etc or IT support entry level (CCENT). Nottingham seems quite exciting with a lot to offer me. I have always lived in villages and market towns before but looking for a fresh start and new horizons. Please... only constructive feedback Thank you.;)

Could you get to work easily if you lived in somewhere like Kinoulton?

I almost had no transport in Nottingham.
Parked in an NCP carpark one Saturday afternoon and returned to find front offside wheel had been removed. Vowed never to return.

There are 2 big universities so those affordable terraces nr the unis are bought by the buy to let landlords.

So perhaps try to identify areas that would be good for you for work, but not good for the students.

I suspect you might have to look further out than Beeston if you want somewhere for 70k that's not in a crime-ridden hellhole.

I lived in Long Eaton for a few years - it's not exactly the most desirable place in the world, but I never had any problems with crime (I think it gets quite rowdy on a weekend night, but I never really went out there at night). It has good bus and train links with Nottingham, and I used to cycle to work (in the science park, just opposite Nottingham University campus) regularly which was fine. I'm not sure what the property market is like these days, but you might get something for 70k. It's more of a market town in its own right than part of Nottingham, so might not be quite what you are looking for.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning
