All I will say is that if I was younger (63 and retired) and looking for a job, and someone offered me 40 hours a week at NMW say in Birmingham (180 miles away) I would take it.
There are plenty of cheap digs and having a job and still looking for a better one is much better than having no job at all.
Besides which you would be grossing approx £275 a week, less your digs money and a National Express return ticket for the weekend and be a lot better off than JSA!!!0 -
Top marks for acknowledging the name you've been given here as a serial troll without me even quoting. Unfortunately we'll never know the 'real' you because you change everytime. You're now 63 but if you were younger you would take a job on NMW 180 miles away and expect to be able to pay for 'digs' and support a family back home? You need to get a sniff of the real world - although given your angst elsewhere I suspect you are getting this and directing your anger at others who struggle but manage to cope.bigboybrother wrote: »What is all that about? What are you on about. Your original post was clearly directed at me otherwise why would I reply?
If I was you I would stop taking what you are taking and come down to earth and stop making ridiculous comments about me.0 -

It's what people who really want to work do, and many people live in the locations where they have to either move or commute for jobs.
I moved to a different county to work, have a 60 odd-mile round commute each day, and when job-hunting was looking at the entire region. Yes, the moving and commuting cost money but it's much better to be earning than sitting on JSA.
Now if you have caring commitments or something then I can see that that isn't going to be a solution for you, but if people are young and don't have a family, then I don't see the problem. Best thing I ever did.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -

Thanks, it just seems that some people are really too lazy to look outside their 5 mile radius!0 -

I have been told to search for 35 hours a week and do 30 actions a week.
It is possible to do 30 actions in far less than 35 hours for instance I have done 10 actions in 3 hours this morning.so what is considered more important?
You are not required to sign up for Universal Job Match and you are not required to allow your adviser access...personally I wouldn't trust any of it, the system is ultimately to get you off benefits and to increase the ability of the advisers to **** around with your life, mainly sanction you!
I could perform 30 actions in less than half an hour...
Visiting a website looking for jobs is an action... https://www.tesco.com, https://www.sainsburys.co.uk, https://www.morrisons.co.uk... 3 actions performed in 3 minutes!I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.
Don't rely on anything I write as it may be wrong!!!0 -

Because you are looking at the bigger picture, the long term. I've moved to a new area for work several times: once with my parents (education), once myself (healthcare), once with my ex husband (electronics); my ex partner relocated loads of times including overseas (chef). University students move halfway across the country to study and many graduates move again for their first job which is not necessarily a great one but it's a start.
You are expected to travel up to an hour to work daily anyway for the jobs you apply to whilst on JSA, personally I'd rather relocate than travel much more than half an hour. You never know you might actually LIKE the new area and the new challenge.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Many JSA claimants are hoping that a job turns up doing something that they would enjoy, paying £20 an hour for 35 hours a week and is close enough for them to roll out of bed in a morning and wander 10 minutes up the road.0
