Simple ways to loose weight

Portion sizes are my problem. And OH is such a damn good cook!
I am at my heaviest ever, partly because of lousy week's holiday where the salads were either iceberg lettuce or mixed with bits of ham. I'm a vegetarian so it was potatoes followed by potatoes.
A box of mini Toblerone for my birthday last week didn't help either.
Walking everywhere is my strategy now, along with cutting portion sizes and cutting out wine. Not a picker, so biscuits are not a problem

I know how you feel. I always laugh when eating 'home cooked' meals is recommended as way to lose weight. It's home cooked meals that make me put it on. I should have married a lousy cook.
I can empathise with the ham in the lettuce scenario too. I stayed in a hotel in Spain where the salads were sprinkled with diced octopus tentacles. Suckers and all.
I'm an omnivore but even so, I wasn't keen.0 -

I don't tend to snack out maybe 1 or 2 biscuits in the morning but thatcfan't be too bad
can it? Also with bread, I wont eat it if its brown bread. I hate the taste and doesn't fill me up so when I have it im snacking out
If you are overweight either you have an undiagnosed health problem, you are eating too much, not physically active enough or more likely a combination. Seriously start weighing, measuring and recording every mouthful as you eat not at the end of the day when you have forgotten. If you are eating small portions then the problem is likely that you are eating the wrong sorts of foods - low sugar fruits and non starchy vegetables are full of vitamins and antioxidants and fibre and water but few calories, many people actually struggle to fit seven to nine servings in their stomachs initially.
There is only 4% fat in whole milk anyway, that is not going to make any difference. You don't say what you are putting in the fryer, but why do you need to fry anything much less use a chemical laden spray oil? Try real food: extra virgin olive or coconut oil.
Again look at how many of your foods contains added fat or added sugar, biscuits alone could easily be the 10% daily calories (~200 for an average female ~150 if you are dieting). Then you have to add in anything containing half spoon sugar, mayonnaise, spread on bread, breakfast cereals .... Aim for as many foods as possible to look much like when they come off the plant or animal when you eat them, there is no mayonnaise fruit or bread tree.
You don't have to eat bread at all, white bread is about as unnatural as you can get - frankly you may as well eat sugar it turns to blood glucose that fast. Then people tend to plaster it with spreads, condiments, high salt and fat cold meats or cheeses. There are many different breads, I don't personally like plastic wrapped sliced brown bread but really enjoy a fresh bakery granary loaf or toasted wholemeal pitta. Never eat carbs alone, always combine with protein and healthy whole fats to slow the digestion.
There is nothing innately wrong with snacking, it's what you choose to snack on. Snacks are the ideal time to bump up the amount of dairy, fruit, veg and healthy fats you are eating, most find it tough to get the recommended servings in without snacking.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Hell no. Weights all the way. And heavy!

They should help keep you from feeling deprived and binging on higher-calorie foods. After breakfast, make water your primary drink. At breakfast, go ahead and drink orange juice. But throughout the rest of the day, focus on water instead of juice or soda.Eat five or six small meals or snacks a day instead of three large meals. A 1999 South African study found that when men ate parts of their morning meal at intervals over five hours, they consumed almost 30 percent fewer calories at lunch than when they ate a single breakfast. Other studies show that even if you eat the same number of calories distributed this way, your body releases less insulin, which keeps blood sugar steady and helps control hunger.0

I have kept to my walking plan and kept off the wine. Result= lost 2lbs.
Yesterday I dug out an old exercise video ( Mr Motivator! Remember him?). Today I walked a good mile and half to my poetry group and walked back, refusing offers of lifts.

Alcohol is one of the things most people forget to take into account when they start 'dieting' or totting up what they eat in a day!
Even 'the odd drink' makes a massive difference on a daily / weekly intake basis.
OP, I've lost a stone and a half doing the shred, it fitted in well with my lifestyle,
Main thing to remember is you can out eat any exercise, and not eating is as bad if not worse than eating rubbish!Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
