protect your bubble iphone insurance beware

I Lost my 13 month old iphone. I had insured it with protect your bubble. Had to battle over two months to get anywhere then dissapointingly the replacement arrived. They only replace with refurbished phones which is not written in their terms and conditions. I am going to attempt to get the FSA to rule that they should add the word"refurbished" to their t&c as when I took the phone to be checked out by Apple they said as it was refurbished it had been tampered with so it was not covered by remaining warranty. The top button was not even an Apple official part. A screw was missing inside and the battery removal tab had been removed. Had I have seen the word "refurbished" then I would not have bought the insurance. Also I think there should be an asterix leading you to this information when it says next to the quote "add loss for £1.00 extra". Also, now home office policy does not undertake giving crime numbers out for missing mobiles yet protect your bubble still ask for one. It is a good idea to register your treasures on the free immobilise website upfront anyway, then if you lose them you would just need to mark them as lost which would give you a certificate to email to your insurer asap (or hopefully reunite you). I am going to complain to Assurant solutions who own protect your bubble first then I will go to the FSA. I feel it is very misleading and the experience upsetting so wanted to share it to save others from falling into the same trap as I.

This has been in their T&C's for at least 2 years and it is more usual to point out if cover is "New for old" not "like for like"This policy offers replacement and is not a replacement as new policy. If the gadget cannot be replaced with an identical gadget of the same age and condition, we will replace it with one of comparable specification or the equivalent value taking into account the age and condition of the original gadget.0

I've never taken out mobile phone insurance but if I had would have expected it to be like for like without even reading the terms etc. As it happens this does say it anyway.0

Totally agree with this. If I'd lost my iPhone, I wouldn't have an issue with a refurbed one, my issue would be when I found out I had one that had been badly refurbished, using non-official parts and with bits missing, as this could possibly have an effect on its quality and life-span.0 -
I don't believe this, it's even in the FAQ's you don't even need to read the terms!0
