Should I tell my Boss?

I don't see the point until your pregnant, surely as a boss of a small company he must have THOUGHT about some sort of contingency plan? People's lives, objectives and circumstances are forever changing. It's always darkest before the dawn.

What job do you do that five or six months wouldn't be sufficient time to find and train someone up?0

-
No you shouldn't. When you get pregnant and are past 3 months, then would be the right time. Otherwise I wouldn't even mention the possibility.0

I am actually a temp who provides cover for a small office in the way tizerbelle has suggested. The company employs me thru an agency and I provide holiday and other absence cover. It works for us both, they give me training which develops my skills and they get a temp who can hit the ground running. What do you currently do for cover when one of you is off?0

Tizerbelle's suggestion is a very good one.
Even if you did tell your boss you're trying there's nothing that can be done until you're actually successful. They wouldn't rush out to hire someone to train up 'just in case' and have them hanging around on the payroll until you get pregnant (which could take 2 months or take 2 years).
Also, speaking from experience, the more people who know about you trying the more well-meaning questions you get about 'how it's going?' which can get very old very quickly. You may also wish to keep quiet in the first 12 weeks like most women do, and it'll be more difficult to do so when your boss is forever checking your expanding waistline and counting how many trips to the toilet you make!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
No, absolutely not.
Although I worked for a very large organisation, I told my boss after my 21 week scan with DD1. There is no way I wanted anyone knowing about any major complications, should that have arisen.0 -
Definately not.
