Very windy here, lashing with rain on and off. Contents of someone's recycling bin have been blowing about since yesterday evening. Might postpone trip to allotment but suppose I should check polytunnel is still standing!

JackieO, what a lovely thing with the photo frame and glass.

ttftm, steam cleaner sounds great. Can I ask the make? Need something to clean up after teenagers, dogs and cats.

Washing will hang in conservatory today, think I'd have to nail it to the line outside and the sky is very black.

    Have a good day :)
  • Hi Guys!

I didn't sleep well due to my face being so swollen, stitches and painful and still is. I've had some pain killers and start on the antibiotics today, so hopefully that will ease things. My joints have all ceased up due to the medication they gave me yesterday and everything hurts:(

Anyway, on a good note, my lovely helper is here today and she is making me 2 Shepherds Pie with added carrot, mushroom, onion, garlic and beans to the minced lamb with a lamb oxo cube with creamy mash on top with some cheddar. This will do me 12 portions and cost about £5, so 42p a serving and its so lovely tasting! She also picked up a few things I needed like FR eggs, couple of carrots, parsnips and a cabbage as we're short on fresh stuff. She helped me shower and get dressed which I still find embarrassing, but what can I do? She has also emptied the DW, WM and put in TD and will do all downstairs and hoover and give the floor a good hot mop through. Also top my medication up too before she goes.

The dog is booked in for a wash and groom/cut on Monday as he's starting to stink! £30 which is about right, but he does look handsome afterwards and obviously smells a lot better too.

OH went to Makro yesterday and picked up some of their bargains. 10kg of red spuds for £4, 1 kg mature cheddar £4.99, 2kg coffee beans for £12 VAT free and a few other bits. He then went to Poundland and spent £25:eek::eek:, but I would say £8 was for DD for her Uni box. Other stuff was black bags and branded goods etc.

Really need to order the patio slabs for the back garden. I have the cash here that I've been saving, so may do that in a minute.

OH needs a brain scan as he's had a lump on his head for a while now and was told initially that it was nothing, but it has started hurting and affecting his vision, so when he saw another GP, she said that it wasn't normal and needs it looked at properly. Hopefully, it'll be nothing and he'll have it removed with a Harry Potter scar:D I'm not even going to start thinking it maybe something more sinister as he's fit and healthy.

DD at college today and has only a few weeks left...can you lot believe that:eek::eek::eek::eek: Where has my baby gone? There's going to be a ceremony as she's done so well and being awarded student of the year:j:j:j and she gets a £50 voucher which will come in handy for Uni.

    I'm rambling so much...sorry.

    Take care guys.

    PP
    xx

Well due to the wind, we are erring on the side of caution and staying on the site near Manton today. We were due to move onto a rally close to Boston (we are in Rutland/Lincolnshire) but towing a caravan with the winds gusting at 30-40mph is not recommended, so we will enjoy another night with electric;). We have the gorgeous views if Rutland Water in front of us, with the sun shining a bit, watching the trees bend in the wind. the Ospreys on the lake have now laid their 3rd egg, and are not incubating them, so will go down to the Nature reserve later and have another look, they have a live camera on them all the time. The menfolk are bewailing the fact they have to go to the pub to pay for the extra night, and will have to pint of the local beers to "keep out of the wind" :rotfl::rotfl::beer:

Pork steak and steak with new potatoes, beans and carrots for tea, hwork doesn't take long in the 'van:D:D:D

Jools sorry to see you had a day and a half of it yesterday, hope you are with your 12 hour shift today.
Bitsy. Nice to see you back.

Spoke to my nephew last night, he has had to go off work with stress, work are being a PITA, new owners took over and the "managers" do not appear to be able to organise a booze up in a brewery, I will have another talk with him once we are home, I like to be there for him.

PP, Molly, LW and all others not up to par, have a ((hug))' spoons, Hi-5, positive vibes from me. Take care everyone DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Morning! Happy birthday to hilstep!

The sun is beautiful today but so windy. I'm never going to get my garden done :( I did go to the garden centre yesterday to window shop. I have some ideas now, so that's great. I've decided that it's going to be cheaper to buy new hanging baskets than make my own. I have loads of baskets though so I'll try and sell those.

DS1 has just sent me a text from school, he got an A* in his maths exam. That's the second part of his GCSE with the final one in June. He got an A in the first part so he should get a great grade if he does ok in June.

I've done some washing today, bleached the grouting in the tiles ( I need TTFTM's steam cleaner) and I've cleaned the children's bathroom (I need an industrial steam cleaner for that).

I had a delivery of some 16cm cube boxes. These are the exception to the small parcels rule with the new RM delivery. I'll try and fit things into these if possible if I need to use RM again. The parcel I sent via myhermes on Monday arrived yesterday so I am very pleased with that. I could see it tracked all the way. I'm still waiting on a payer from Monday evening. Why bid if you don't want to pay straight away?

Have a good day all. I hope everyone feels in tiptop condition soon.

JackieO, saw Blood Brothers in Feb, Maureen Nolan was playing the Mum. Fabulous cast, very funny and moving. Even DD (16) who normally grumbles through everything was absolutely riveted.
Enjoy but have the tissues to hand.
  • Hello everybody and hugs to all in need. Just a quick pop in and I haven't read the thread yet - MIA for the last few days. Took Bobby the budgie to the vet last night (with Derek the other one or else it's just constant screeching). Anyway, upshot is that they were kept overnight so that Bobby could have a blood test. Full examination revealed no masses etc but they want to do his bloods to see if there is anything as although they could give him antibiotics etc they would be treating him "blind" and might not be giving him the right stuff. So blood test this morning and we will collect them this evening no doubt with medications..... Last night was £91 (£30 consult, £61 bloods) so so much for getting my credit card down :rotfl:Apart from that not much else. VERY down at the moment and hoping it's related to all my hormone meds. Got a bit more work today but only 10 yesterday. Enjoyed The Sewing Bee and have finally started the sampler - hussah! HM cakes etc going down very well but I think perhaps the amount of baking I did was a bit much for two of us. Had a look through supplies before and it looks like we can get away with bread, top up milk and any fresh veg on Saturday. Which will be good. I'll let you know how we get on with Le Bobster.....
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D
