O/S Daily Thursday 18th April

O/S Daily Thursday 18th April 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning all:j:j

    Cheep.Cheep.:j:j

Very windy here:eek: And has been for most of the night.
    Very strong and noisy

I bet its caused some damage In places.

Not a good night for me. Only been dosing In my chair since 2:20am. But I have had a good few Night's In a row of full sleep, So I can not complain too much.

I never did get my beans done yesterday. Or get much else none really, I did not feel too good by late morning. So I spent most of the day resting.

Might have been a blessing. As with the wind we have had I think It may have blown the canes down if I had put them up.

Not much on again for me today. Just a bit of tidying up and that's it. My wife is at work this afternoon.

Well I hope that you all have a great day.

    Enjoy :j:j

  • Good morning everyone :)

Thanks to Halight for starting the thread and sorry you had another bad night.

The wind was blowing here all night and I had difficulty sleeping too. I was woken several times by bins blowing over and travelling down the road, and once by smashing glass, so I think someone has lost at least part of their greenhouse. I am not looking forward to the drive to work.

My steam cleaner continues to amaze and now my oven shelves look almost new. I still need some work on the glass door, I think this will need a few goes to get it sparkling in and out so that is an ongoing project. I realised I could also steam clean our usually washable cooker hood filters. That was a revelation! More steam cleaning tonight .....

No idea what is for dinner tonight as it is a freezer lucky dip but as it is a fasting day, it will be served with something light.

Better get ready for work so will leave with well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need them or just want them. Keep well and safe and take care in the wind. Have a super day :)

    Morning all
Off to work soon, deep joy.
I managed to stay awake after work last night & made a start on DD's cushions, they won't take long & should be ready by her next visit in a week or so.
I also spent some time reading the booklet that arrived about my pension, I want to defer mine for a while, I don't need to do anything as you now have to ask for your pension, it doesn't start automatically.
I will feed DD's pigglies again after work today & then they are back tomorrow.
Time I set off for work
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning all at least the sun is shining this morning .I took DD to the dentists as per usual and bless her she has a tooth that had split down the middle and food had found a way in.Dentist managed to clean it out and put a temporary filling on it and she has to return on 10 May for more treatment Its either root canal or extraction as its at the back I'd go for extraction but we'll have to see.She really doesn't like dentists at all she had a dreadful experience having her wisdom teeth out last year with 'concious sedation' and swore the next one to be taken out she wants to be knocked out completely as the previous sedation didn't work well at all.Poor lass she still gets stressed about it even talking about it.But on the way home my eldest DD texted to see how she was and told us she had got our tickets to see Robbie Williams in July at Wembley so Tessie cheered up no end and even started to smile a bit.I also had to nip into the glaziers to get a bit of glass for my small photo frame and bless him the chap took the frame off and when he came back a few minutes later it had been replaced and looked great when I asked how much he said " Its a lovely day, and my missus has just had our new little boy yesterday have it on me dear "
He was grinning from ear to ear and I had to stop and admire the photos of his new little son (he was rather cute :):) The baby, not the Dad :):))so my frame is now sorted and back on the side and it cost me a few minutes looking at new baby photo's :):):) result or what.
Hope everyone has a good day I'm just off to have a large cuppa and a shower, then round to DDs to sort the boys out for school.Looks like it may be a nice day today, looking from my window I can see the River Medway shining in the distance which is a good sign, I may even take myself off for a stroll around the park today and take my book
    Cheers chums

    Morning all,

Been raining here but stopped now, cant tell if it was windy as soon as my head hit the pillow I was asleep till 7 this morning.

Looks like it might brighten up later on, off to work for me, and home for scampi chips and peas, the scampi was on bogof this week.

Struggling a bit to get the washing dry, we have turned the heating off, and its often not dry enought to hang it out.

Tesco delivery coming tonight. I need to have a quick tiday round before I go this morning.

Have good days all, and Hugs to Jools, who I think needs one atm xx

    Morning everyone :D

Been hiding in a bubble lately but need to give myself a kick up the @rse and re-engage with OS and life generally. Still haven't sold the house yet. Have a couple of people who'd love to buy it but who haven't sold their own properties yet :( so H is still doing lots of commuting and I spend time trying to keep some semblance of order at home.

Had a viewing on Tuesday so as a result housework is all up to date :D I will make a start on ironing today instead booooo
I've also got a chicken to roast and then strip carcass. It's supposed to be a fast day for me so meals will be soups and salads mostly. H is out late to a work thing so he won't be needing to be fed.

Other than walking the dog that's my dad planned out. Still really windy here but thankfully all fences are intact.

Just watched a video of the explosion in Texas :eek: it sure was one big bang

Hugs and spoons all round xxx

Work is really busy atm. We are getting loads of pupils ready for exams and everyone seems really stressed. hopefully I can do my bit in making them feel happier about their exams.

Going to Mr M's straight from work tonight.

    Morning Halight and all,

Slept like a log i did.:T In fact if it wasnt for the 'Girls' i'd still be fast asleep. Of course it didnt occur to 'Youngest' to let them out before he dived into the shower.

Having cavity wall insulation today. I hope i'm doing the right thing.

Talking about 'Youngest', he wants to do a completely different course at college next year. He's got a list of City and Guilds a mile long and he now wants to change course. Its getting harder apparently. Did he really think it would stay the same?
Now he is using phrases that his Dad quoted to him in September to put him off the field he went into.

Had a deep and meaningfull yesterday with my daughter in SA. Gun crime is pretty bad over there and although they havent set a time scale. They plan to come back to the UK in the future to live. Theres things they need to see through out there before they make any plans.

I read this quote this morning:

'Every man is a volume if you know how to read him'.

I have to say, i think i'm deaf as well as blind :(

    Jobs for today
    Strip beds and launder bedding
    Vacuum downstairs
Tea will be gammon (have to say i'm going off gammon)

Anything else done in the house will be a bonus.

    Have a good day all.
