Can you work with children/vulnerable adults if you have been arrested?

Can you work with children/vulnerable adults if you have been arrested but not charged?

Would the arrest show up on a CRB check?

Arrest was for rape and DV.

I would expect this to appear in the other information on the enhanced check along with notes as to outcome. An employer who meets the code of practice would then consider discuss it further.

A CRB check doesn't stop you being employed. It gives a potential empoloyer relevent information, and they then make a decision based on all the facts and their safeguarding policies.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I would be reluctant to employ somebody with a rape charge on their crb if filling a position working with any vulnerable group be it children, LD etc

Well no, because i've never been arrested for anything.

It was a discussion I was having with another lady also from a DV background.

Man was arrested but not charged due to not enough evidence.

Not sure if that kind of thing shows up on a CRB check if they wanted to work in a situation that required one.

It would definitely show on an enhanced check and I for one am glad it does. Whether that would stop someone getting any particular job is up to the employer and whether they told them about it first.

If they were on the prohibited list then they couldn't work with vulnerable groups.

The person concerned has not been charged. They have been arrested.

All that means is that someone has made an allegation and the police want to question them. It does not mean that there is any substance to the allegation.

One arrest might be nothing; if the person had been arrested repeatedly for the same offence, the situation would be different, as would allegations by multiple potential victims.

The answer is a bit complicated as we don't really know the entire situation.

Arrested and released without caution / charge - clear
Arrested and cautioned - caution will appear
Arrested and charged - conviction will appear

Although - I would sincerely hope that if police actually thought he had committed such a crime they shouldn't be working with children / vulnerable adults.

On another note - if you are CURRENTLY employed working with children / vulnerable, you will need to inform your employer of the arrest and whatever outcome. Failure to do so is MASSIVE.

I have no idea what kind of arrest it was, I know they were put on bail whilst the police collected more evidence and evidence was collected before the arrest.

According to her, she was told it will stop the man getting jobs with children and vulnerable people, but I wasn't so sure because how awful for people who have false allegations against them to lose chances of getting into those area's as careers.

Although in his case it is obviously a good thing if it prevents him from it but it's a two way street isn't it.
