Had a terrible first clothes shop today.... Had all the right amount of clothes, had all my vouchers in order, Had bumped up my trolley with groceries to hide the big discount, chose a young Saturday lad.... tried to make pleasant small talk (he wasn't interested). I politely said I had a few vouchers and he said I can only take 10%. I tried and tried to be nice as I know from my previous role as a travel agency manager rude people don't get anywhere. Asked him if he would just try them and see if the till accepts. He lied to me and said he'd tried them and the till bleeped.... there's no way he tried them as I was watching like a hawk. He put through the new £10 and a new £5 and told me to see if CS would put them through... yeah right!!!! I think the problem was the SA was tall..... the taller ones seem more cocky!!

Left very disheartened almost gave up but thought i would give it another shot Returned an hour later with all the clothes and asked for a refund, I said I heard there was gonna be 20% off next week and would come back then!!!.... it worked.... got full refund and they never took into account the £15 coupons!!!

Tried again and chose a small young lad with glasses who looked very quiet and he took all my coupons no probs :) So got £50 off a £63 shop.

Still had a few vouchers and decided to take my poor 20 month daughter home as she was fed up and left her with dh while I went to a bigger tesco. Thought I had covered my shop with a few quid over just in case but a pair of socks were reduced from £3 to 75p so I was 25p under the threshold for the new £7.... damn them for reducing things when we don't actually want them to!!!!! young lad was p*ssed off cos he had to work when the footie was on and gladly put all my coupons through... so ended up with £46 off a £63 shop. cos of the bonus £15 on the first refund I didn't mind so much.

All in all a good first go. Thanks for all the advice :) Looking forward to some more coupons :)

my little coupon boy said they had all had a meeting about vouchers and that they are only allowed to take 30% on clothes, I said okay, I thought drat i have two lots here! put through 62 pounds worth adults/kids, using vouchers i paid 35, 2 nd time decided to split adults from kids adults was 38 down to 13, kids was 39 down to 16- that included 10 pounds of nivea suncream of which i used 10 pound nivea coupon to pay so they were free. overall 127 for 64, i then returned a pair of trousers for 15 pounds so total spend 49. Far from my best but could have been worse and i needed what i got today so very happy.

nope you dont get a receipt if you dont take one in to start off with - otherwise anyone could take stuff back that they havent paid for, get the exchange with receipt and then take it back for a full refund.

no luck at all for me today, came home with nothing!! No clothes, no vouchers nothing but a bit of food shopping - off further afield tomorrow to try my luck!

Guess i'll put this one down to experience. Didnt want to show receipt due to excessive coupon use!!!

It seems to vary whether you get a receipt with an exchange of clothing if you offer NO receipt to start with. I have done a straight swap of clothes before without offering a receipt and I didn't get a new one either.

But this week I needed to exchange a few items and the receipt was as long as my arm with coupons used (slight exageration, I know, but did not pay any money for the clothes), so said I did not have receipt. SA scanned all my returned items to give me a total I could exchange upto. I already had a bunch of stuff ready in my trolley to swap for, PLUS she then gave me a new receipt after she had scanned all the new stuff.

So I guess now I am free to take the new things back and get cash back for them. But kids are already using the school things so will hang on to them this time ;)

Same thing happenned to me today.

The thing everyone has to learn about Tesco Policy is.......they have NO POLICY.............it seems to be made up by whoever put the cat out last night........even in the same store its never consistant.
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

Indeedy - tesco staff do not sing from the same hymn sheet I wish they did.

I went to one of my regular boys got chatting about footie and he said once I gave him my vouchers, ah yes I remember you, you handed over loads last time. I asked if it was a problem and he said it was nice to see someone saving money - ah bless. Shame he didnt remove a security tag though from one of my new tops !
