O/S Daily Tuesday 16th April 2013

O/S Daily Tuesday 16th April 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Got a few household Jobs to do around the house today too.

The chicks are now off heat. There got maybe 95% of there feathers. I'm Hoping that the weather warms up quick now so they can go outside. Won't be too long before they are ready anyway. But I'm keen for them to be out of the house.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Gosh it was a lovely warm afternoon yesterday and it's warm again this morning. Is this really Spring? Though it looks like a lot of rain is heading our way from tomorrow.

I am planning on blitzing the bathroom with the new steam cleaner tonight. In fast I can't wait .... how sad is that!

Dinner is something out of the freezer and whatever goes with it, when I discover what it is. Lunch is homemade lentil soup.

Am shocked and appalled at the news reports from Boston. Why on earth would anyone do that, it's just so awful, those poor people who thought they were out for a sporting event, many raising money for charity :(

Better get going for work. Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need them or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning all
Fish fed, DW unloaded, packups made and breakfast eaten.
Off to work in a sec, it can't be any worse than yesterday, can it, oh yes it probably can. Some lunch duties have been changed around, I'm now doing 2 duties with the person who either doesn't turn up or spends her time chatting to a friend, so I end up covering 2 areas.
    Hugs to those in need.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Hester - really hope that today is much better than you anticipated x

Im off to London today for my Consultant appointment with the neuro surgeon:(. Really hope that London is not too busy as it is the funeral tomorrow.

    Dreadful events in Boston:(
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Good morning everyone,
A bit dull here today. Not sure what the weather is supposed to do today. It was lovely yesterday, so more of the same would be nice.
Thinking of all of those affected by the Boston bombing. An awful thing to happen.
Back to work for me today. It has been lovely having the time off. Everywhere is tidy and the packed lunches are done.
All of dd's eyebrows have fallen out again. The skin is now so smooth. I am hoping that the steroid injections will kick in and start working. On the other hand the dr did say that it can have the reverse effect if given too much and destroy the hair folicle, so am hoping that this isn't the case. Only time will tell.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning All

Thoughts are with those involved in the Boston bombings, too awful to think about.

The weather yesterday was lovely, even reached 16 degrees at one point though it waited till I got in and then the heavens opened! At least I managed to get the washing in before it got too wet.

No washing today (it's wet and windy anyway), hoover part still hasn't arrived although I got an e-mail from them this morning to say it was dispatched yesterday - I ordered it last tuesday so they are obviously not hurrying themselves.

Chimney co can't come till Friday so wasn't best pleased about that but I will have to wait I suppose.

Dinner was gammon which was lovely with veg, including courgette that I got YS the other day. Finished DDs jumper last night, gosh I hate sewing up! She seems pleased with it though.

Have a good day. Take care. XX

    Morning all,
I had DGD2 & 3 y/day, DGD2 is still here she's doing maths on my ipad atm. It's first day back to playschool so I'll take her there then drop her overnight stuff back to DD then pop to Mr T for a few things, I haven't been in a shop for 10 days now so busy shopping from the freezer and cupboards.
The friend who is a tree surgeon is cutting the Sycamore down tomorrow so I have stacked as many of the logs we have into the inglenook we dont light. I wish he could have done it y/day or today because DH and I are going away for a couple of days on Thursday and that means we have to move the whole tree on to our property in 1 day. I think we'll be putting a fair few hours in to get it done.
All bedding got dried y/day so I'll get that ironed today.
I'm having fish & salad for dinner and DH will have chops pots and veg.
Right, off to cook DGD's boiled egg& soldiers.
Terrible news about Boston, just seen the headlines in our paper.
Hope you all have a good day

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x Thinking especially of those affected by the events in Boston x

Cloudy and dry but sun trying to come out but still quite blustery, so have put washing out on the line. The forecast is for rain towards the end of the week, hence why I'm trying to get the washing as up to date as possible, so I can line dry it now.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was pasta in a cream and mascarpone sauce, with smoked sausages, chicken and mushrooms - bit of a made-up recipe, based on another that I make, but was lovely and there was clear plates all round, really pleased as used up LO mascarpone, cream, smoked sausages (packet was open) and LO roast chicken from Sunday's roast. The mascarpone and cream would have normally ended up in the bin as I wouldn't know what to do with them. Dinner tonight is fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg - nice and easy as the hairdresser is coming tonight to cut the menfolks hair, dinner will be a bit late because of this.

Work yesterday was busy as expected and today possibly will be nearly as bad, but we'll see.

    Keep safe and well x
