I totally agree with posts from BA and RS, some people just think that splurging money without a care is impressive and that you're tight if you don't go out all the time. Well more fool them I get a kick out of telling people how little I've spent on something as opposed to how expensive it was. I also look at the people in their seemly nice cars etc and know that the majority will be paying a high monthly fee whilst I own my car as battered as it might be!

S*d everyone else, your combined efforts will get you to NZ in the future where will those people be?

Keep your chin up, Ev x

thanks ev, and yes you're all right i guess i just never thought of it that way. The area oh plays cricket at is quite affluent, lots of polished highlighted hair, gym bodies and designer clothes. I know they all have good jobs but are probably mortgaged/HP'd/credit carded to the hilt and have to increase CC balance to keep up the pretence of the lifestyle. I guess we never know each others circumstances and what is under the facade.
So my guilt of not being able to join in and feeling excluded at least hasn't added to the debt!!

Yep your right re DP and the cricket, i rescued him and he now has a forever home. I have struggled and struggled sometimes to keep hold of him but would rather go without than let him suffer. but i now have a free field! bonus!! so yep i guess DP does add up to cricket, esp during the winter months when you have to add hay and feed into the equation! costs about tupence during the summer!
I will get to NZ and i WILL conquer the demons and everyone else that demands a share of my money can stuff it until then!!

Right positive curve... right back on it....!

    Hi Pania

I *really* know what you mean about wishing all of this wasn't happening, that it was just gone and I was solvent again. And it must have been awful to have actual comments flying at you like that last night. Trying to find a silver lining for that, because it must have been really horrible: how about, if they knew how bad things were for you, they'd never say things like that (unless they're deeply, deeply unpleasant people, in which case you wouldn't want to be around them anyway) because they'd realise it was so hurtful. So its not standing out that your finances are so rocky right now - you're keeping a good face on in relation to the people you don't want to take into your confidence. I hope that helps, and doesn't contradict the other posts on here. I just think that, if there's people you don't want to tell about your debt problems, at least its a comfort that they can't tell how bad it is. Urgh,I know I'm waffling, okay, gonna post.

yep it did feel pretty horrible and i'm in a stinker of a mood today, but i will sort it i will. not got a clue on the money situation too scared to look at online banking, but i know i must! going to do a sporting odds matched bet for a free £25 today to, got a couple of little pots i shouldn't dip into but may be able to get away with if careful. I can always look at replenishing it next month. :-/
Hope you're all enjoying the sun, it's lovely isn't it. xx

Hope you are feeling a little better this evening. The weather is hot and all the windows are open, so I hope we don't get invaded by hungry mozzies tonight!!

yup i know that one, OH has closed all the doors and windows! is like an oven in here!! I joined the bread makers brigade today, made 4 rolls!! was from a packet though so a bit cheaty but hey.
So heres a question, is homemade REALLY cheaper than shop bought or by the time you have all the ingredients would you just be better off buying it? discuss....

Well, if you buy all your basic ingredients rather than a packet mix, then it can be much cheaper, but if you are buying packets then it will be much the same as shop bought.

I like making different types of bread - adding olives and sun dried tomatoes for example, or a bit of cheese and chopped spring onion. Very cheap extras but taste soooo expensive.

Perhaps you need to hop over to the OS board

  • its not cheaper than duck bread as we call it but can be cheaper than good bread - i haven't made any for a while but did make lots from a great recipe link on os - didn't use a bread machine and it was v satisfying!!! I didn't find it too expensive - will try to find link

here it is - you might need to cut and paste it not good at doing link http://kethry.wordpress.com/food/bread/

if i knew how to make it from scratch i'd go for it. Thought the packet mix would make me feel like i'd baked it! sun dried tomatoes mmmmm, problem is they'd never make it as far as the bread!!

    Hop hop!!

    will report back shortly!
