oops, i've dropped to page five! had bit of a slack day yesterday with oh about,
Had a massive row in tesco over a £1.50 bottle of lemon squash of all things!
as he pays the food bill, told me if i didn't like what he had then i could go without! cue massive argument over £25 ebay purchases this week and he wouldn't let me have a bottle of lemon squash. Threatened to leave him, massive argument lots of tears etc etc but think i finally hit home how serious i am about all this. Woke up at 4 am again so very very tired but good thoughts this time as in how i'd raise my £500 in the challenge! must indicate a shift in thought pattern, anyway off out to watch oh play cricket, have a good day everyone.debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -
Hi Pania
I so feel for you reading your post. Didn't know you last time. I actually read the thread as when I saw the title I wondered if you were back from tesco after giving in £100 worth of coupons or something and were feeling ashamed! lmao
Anyway I agree with shineyhappy. Take your OH in hand. My OH was like that and I have never been in debt. he thinks he can have ahouse a family and go on the p*** whenever he feels like it. I told him I would handle the cash and give him pocket money. His clothes, toiletries etc are bought from the family joint account. So is the payment for sky which is what he w ants, I couldnt care less and any travelling expenses. So he has £20 a week to just himself himself. (Thats £19 a week more than I have I might add)
I make sandwiches for his lunch at work and he takes his own coffee in and boils the kettle up at work.
We never buy things like a bag of crisps or a bar of choccie or a bottle of water from a shop while out. I do the shopping at tesco and we take food/drink from the house out with us. Your OH needs to learn he is putting you under too much stress. There as so many little ways we can save money. Your health and being debt free should be more important to him.
Good luck to you and I hope this time next year things are different for youI can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. I can be hurtful I can be purple I can be anything you like..Gotta be green gotta be mean gotta be everything more...0 -
Hi Pania - Great to see you back - Have missed you.:beer:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

Hi Discodee, thanks for the response, and good to hear of someone coming out the otherside of the problems i'm experiencing now. If you ever want to chat or sound off about OH's just add to this thread and we can support each other. would be nice.:p
I feel really ready and able to fight this time, and i think with the argument yesterday it's really hit home to OH that i need to sort this and get myself out of debt even if he isn't concerned about his finances. I've learnt i need to look after myself.
He is getting in the habit of coming home for lunch so it avoids the temptation of going to the supermarket and spending money on lunch when theres food in the cupboard only 5 mins walk from work. Have also agreed that he would put the money for the food bill into a pot in the cupboard so i can go and buy whatever we need without question or recrimination. I don't buy uneccessary frivolities, just things we need.
We've had a really nice day today and after cricket we popped to the pub, agreed how much we would spend before we went home and stuck with it.
The work thing is really stressing me out, without the job i can't pay my debts off but have to pay debts off to keep the job! Wondering whether to start looking for a job doing what i am now but without the pressure of my boss, would mean waiting a couple more months for commissions but to get a good night sleep i think it may be worth it.
Whats this about £100 of tesco vouchers? where from where from?oh if only! got £9 in this latest run but going to convert in vouchers for a nice night out for a treat, much better than £9 off the food bill to be able to convert it to £32!!
I'm looking forward to lauching my attack on the £500 challenge with unixgirl tomorrow. lots of amazon and ebay sorted out, batteries in the digi camera and ready to roll!
Managed to line myself up a bit of a sideline with the cricket club:T
Going to (attempt) a team photo next week, get one copy framed for the club and offer enlargements to the team and others for £5-£10 each depending on what size they want! should give me about £40 i think:T
If i do a good job the second team will want one to! whoopee!!:rotfl:
If anyone else reading this wants to join in the £500 challenge you're more than welcome and the more competition the more motivation!
Hi rog2, good to be back, fallen off the wagon once, don't intend to again! thanks for the acknowledgement and is so nice to be welcomed back to the boards!

Evening Pania!
Bit quiet on the boards tonight - everyone is obviously off having fun somewhere else!
I think you need a very early night, a good night's sleep and a fresh start in the morning!
