Oh P, I am sorry you are feeling so crap today. I hope you are able to get some rest today - at least if you are working at home you can stay in your jim jams all day!

Shout if there is anything you need - I don't have clients until 2.30, so if you need Lucozade or anything, let me know x

Ok, so, spoke to abbey earlier re the bank charge reclaim.

Approx 2 weeks ago i received a letter saying that they would refund me £495 as a good will gesture!
    As A) i was claiming £1750 and
    B) £1100 of that was accrued as a result of the abbey not cancelling
direct debits when requested on two occasions,

I told them, rightly in my opinion, to poke it.

I immediately sent a letter by fax saying if it wasn't refunded and my account restored to full working order within 7 days i would go to the ombudsman.

Fast forward to today, Called the abbey as not heard anything.
Operator on switchboard offered to call me straight back as there was a que and it would cost me lots of money!!   I kid you not!! having picked myself up off the floor, she was good to her word and called me so whole 35 minute call was at abbey's expense!!:T :T

Now comes the GRRRR bit!  no fax or letter disputing the goodwill gesture apparently received!!

So then i did something i know some of you will give me a firm boot up the proverbial for. However bearing in mind my precarious situation with my credit rating and employment i just don't wany another dispute on my record so this is worth the sacrifice,

Me. "provided that you refund me the full £1100 plus £150 as a goodwill gesture and restore the account to full working order within 14 days I will relinquish my claim on the extra £500. If however this isn't done then i will take the matter to the ombudsman, for the whole claim, including interest, costs my train ticket and maybe even my packed lunch. Is that clear?"

Lovely Charlotte (oops sorry the cold must be increasing my sarcasm levels) "yes miss P that is no problem. I will put that to the person handling your claim and i am certain you will hear back from us very shortly"

SO!! Will they snap my arm off for what is a very reasonable offer on my part or will it be hi ho hi ho to the ombudsman i go!!

Watch this space peeps, yes i may be loosing out on £500, but it's worth it to keep my job i promise!! (and i've just started on the halifax to.. he he!)

Olive by the way hon, re your comment on the signature, at th bottom of the reply box is a tick box with show signature next to it. If you are posting on another board and don't want people to see just untick it. Only just noticed it myself.

Hugs to all, bath time now!!

Just wanted to say I have just read your diary from start to finish and found it really inspirational :T I know how it feels to move away from family as I have and I too find it really hard especially with my 2 year old. Sometimes the only conversation that I have in the whole day is 2 year old speak until my OH comes home - some days I find it soul destroying especially when you speak to people from home on the phone - but at the same time, where I live is far more beautiful than what I call home. We are in the middle of glorious Northamptonshire countryside and live in a great village - a far cry from the concrete delights of Birmingham. The biggest thing that I miss is "popping" to a mates house for coffee. Village life is quite clicky - we have lived here 2 years now and I think we are only just starting to feel settled - still a billy no mates though!!!

I have felt really down in the dumps the last couple of days as trying to rob peter to pay paul at the moment, but reading your post has made me feel better.

Hiya sky, lovely to hear from you, yep it is a bit of an awkward position to be in especially when tied to home for long hours each day,
I'm especially mising home at the mo as sister is due her second anyday now, well actually was due tuesday but he/she is too comfortable where they are!!!
Anytime you're at home and feeling a bit lonely drop me a PM and we'll have a chat. I have to come to northampton quite regularly for work and stay at the highgate hotel near althorpe. Is a lovely area of the country. Where did you move from?
I'm glad you found my diary inspirational, thats lovely to hear!
    Have a great evening
