Wrote all details of my debts down and it comes to a staggering £23,967.00. Years of overspending has contributed to this and it is spread over 5 separate loans and 2 credit cards.

Apart from making the normal payments I am going to take one debt at a time and so the first one to tackle is the Capital One card which currently has a balance of £1,600. My aim will be to pay off £400 a month from that so should be paid off by Sept 1st when I can look at the next debt.
Total debt [STRIKE]£23,967[/STRIKE]\ £19,190. DFD: Feb 2015.
Loan with largest monthly repayment:
[STRIKE]£20,496[/STRIKE] £1,442, £1,068, £712, £355, £0. (£360 a month better off when this one finishes! Last payment Feb 2014)

  • Well not much joy with the weight as I haven't really started dieting in earnest yet - soon.

The sun is out and good incentive to change things and get things sorted. Going to do work around the house in the next month. Cleaning, clearing, painting and decorating. Feeling positive.

No change on the money front as pay day isn't here yet, but I am looking forward to it (pay day that is).
I am cheered by the fact I just realised a loan I repay £360 a month for only has 10 months left to run. That will make a big difference when it is finished

  • Being very bad with money in the past I have missed or been late with some payments. Checking my history for the last 6 years I have 5 months where I have been 1 month behind with cards\loans I still have open. Also 13 months on cards\loans which I have now repaid.
So a total of 18 missed payments, none more than a month behind though.

Only the past 6 years are taken into account for credit rating and so these will drop off as time goes by, and I won't miss anymore!

  • Paid off £1460 this month so far, which is great. Just hope I won't need any extra money than I have put aside and have to put something back on the card.
I was aiming to be debt free in 19 months - Dec 2014. This has now gone down to 18 months - Nov 2014.
