Hiya,
The good news is that, no, these coupons are not set at the till to only work if you buy the products.....so if you are lucky with your chosen SA at Sainsburys you can use their coupons against anything. I wouldn't hand over all the magazine coupons at once though, I think even the doziest SA would suss that you wouldn't have bought all the items...
I try to confuse the issue by buying something I have a coupon for (maybe the free Lurpak that some of us had so many coupons for, eh MBN?!) then including a few of their magazine coupons, then maybe a Nectar points one for spending a certain amount, and maybe a cereal coupon or two when I have bought some other cereal. Oh and maybe a Woman's Own coupon when I have bought Take a Break, you get the picture. If they ask 'did you buy that?' I am a bit cheeky and say 'oh yes, that was the cereal/my magazine' and rustle among my bags a bit, it seems to work!
I have had mostly successes at Sainsburys recently, usually getting about 15% - 25% off in various coupons. They also have some stuff on offer that Tesco don't (half-price Jaffa cakes, biccies and goodies for the children's packed lunches at the mo) and in large stores they have a clothing sale on. You can also get a 'free' large Coolbag/picnic rug/kids outdoor bats & ball set with 5 purchases of stickered chilled basics like sausage rolls.....
.....OMG how off-topic was that?! All I can add that is on-topic re the 'weeklies' is that Tuesday is the day for Woman/Woman's Own and Thursday is the day for Take a Break/Chat/That's Life (among others).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

That cracked me up - these things go through my mind but as soon as they ask my big mouth opens up and blurts out the truth every flippin time

I also went to Waitrose and asked whether they took any coupons. Charming guy at the CS desk said that they did (I knew that from the kind people who have reported this on MSE before
), so I did a shop there and saved money by using coupons and buying stuff on offer at Waitrose, yet not on offer at Tesco.
A very nice shopping experience indeed.
Hope you had a good day too.
Hi
Can you tell us what the policy is please?
Like do they take the Daily Mail book coupon?
I have a Waitrose just down the road and only do a little shop there every couple months - but if they take coupons - wayhay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, they don't take DM booktokens!
A bit like t's - policy depends on SA!! Some will take lots, some only if you buy the product!!
