    Hi

Just wanted say. I and my husband finished our BR in March there.
36 monthly payments. During that time I was off sick from work for a while and did not have enough pay that month to over the IPA payment and my half of monthly house and food contriubtions that had been worked out at the beginning. I informed my trustee, we are in scotland too, and they advised me to cancel the up and coming payment and send in payslip for it. So the answer to them saying suspend means do dont pay that months or more if you are still sick. It will resume when you go back to normal pay, or if still reduced as in your working hours, you advise and they adjust.
You can only pay what you can. They can not take money from you if you dont have enough to cover all your basic living costs. They will not make you pay for the extra month or months you miss or reduce. The BR started when it started and you IPA started with the 1st payment and will finish 36 months in total.

Please do not worry about it continuing it wont. I was fully informed about this when I was sick.

If you stopped work altogether then you tell them and they would have to cancel your payments if you could not cover basic outgoings.

Remember you are already BR, this is only income based afterwards.

I hope all gets better for you.

  • Oh my goodness thank you for your reply, you have no idea how happy that has made me. I have been incredibly stressed over this and envisioned myself paying the bankruptcy into my later years... :/ I am returning to my doctor this week to get another sick line and will send to my trustee. Still no better I'm afraid but at least that's one giant weight off my shoulders :)
