Greed and Waste

Yep - as a small businessman yourself (owner of a SME, not being heightist there ML
) that just about covers the waterfront of organisations that are next to worthless in actually helping businesses (especially SMEs) to grow - would you agree?
Apologies of course to my old friend Richard Lambert for that one.0 -
I would argue that Tescos changed their overcharge policy as a DIRECT result of some people on here (and presumably elsewhere but I personally don't know of other places). It was a case of "get down to Tesco, clear the shelf of miss-priced cola (or whatever), claim the item free and get a full refund and walk out with a trolley of free cola and money in the pocket. Some were, literally, clearing the shelf and getting banned from stores. It wasn't just cola prices - some higher value items were touted too. and some presumably ended up on ebay and the like..
It wasn't just this forum that was abusing this offer. Many people abused the miss-price on the X-Box (I think) which was going for over £100.
You can't change the greedy people or those who waste things. Unfortunately.0 -
I totally agree with the OP, but most of us here are of a consumerist mentality - grab what you can, at the most cost effective price we can. People who frequent the freebies board are rarely the same audience who are interested in a new product or service - as the name suggests, they come here to get the free stuff, not to try and hear about new things.
Bit sad really, not for the megacorporations that can easily afford it, more the small business/startup trying to show off their goods only for their promotion to reach the wrong, freeloading audience.0 -

To be fair, that issue is easily solved, particularly with the B2B market - simply ask for a company name and registration number (or VAT number) on the form. It's very easy and quick to check if that is fake or not online at the Companies House website.
Is it about time this thread is either closed or sent over to the Arms?0 -
Edna - the collective business groups in this country easily overpower, outresource and outlobby the consumer voice - add the billions spent in advertising, marketing and sales training; and i have little sympathy.
However on the point of small companies; if we get an email from one with a genuine case of "a link of ours has been misrepresented on the forum and its hurting us/we won't be able to cope" then its dealt with and added in the post asap - the aim isn't to hurt people or even companies its to get a freebie/ help a consumer.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

Has this offer now finished?

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -
I have just remembered one other things about other's behaviour that really ought to be mentioned here. It wasn't just cola prices - some higher value items were touted too. and some presumably ended up on ebay and the like. I benefited from this a couple of times when my "true" shop went a bit wrong-priced and something like a packet of meat was overcharged. Nice to be surprised for something you needed.
Now it's "just" double the difference. Go figure, as they say in the states.
And this has what? to do with me?
It seems that just because I told you it was none of your business what I do and don't do that you have decided that I'm an immoral person and that I was being defensive.
It seems to me that you know a whole lot more about getting free stuff from Tesco than I do, does that mean that you are in there filling your trolley everyday? No. It doesn't.
You're obviously happy to make uninformed snap judgements. Good luck to you. I'm sure you'll often be surprised and rarely disappointed.0 -

I do hope that is not what James has decided jennalicious. If he has, I'm sure I speak for most of the MSE community when I say he's 100% wrong - you are a highly valued and appreciated contributor here.
