I would like x100 copies of your email please as you have chosen to post this on the Freebies (no spend required) Board. What am I going to do with them? Thats none of your business! If we all lived to the rule 'an eye for an eye', the world would be blind...0

I absolutely hated snack-a-jacks until i sent for a free sample thinking i could pass it on to my DD. I got sent a 'new' flavour. Caramel. This was about 3weeks ago. I have since gone on to buy 7 individual packs paying anything up to 80pence per packet!
I guess the point I am trying to make is that I for one only send for things I can make use of and always go on to bring business to the company if I can as the introduction to the product is much appreciated.DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0 -
I'm not sure what it is you expected Martin to do about any of the things you mentioned in your message or did I miss the day that everyone got their "free" mind control chip?
What I do or do not apply for is between myself and the company offering the freebie and absolutely none of your business.
I'm sure I'm not the only mse'r that doesn't appreciate a lecture of this sort.

Having discovered this thread... I thought I would pubish my replyOf course you should only get what you are going to use. Yet that doesn't stop the info being used.
As for the 'small company promotion' - those companies that choose to use the power of the web to reach as many people as possible - need to be prepared to deal with the consequences. It isn't difficult to lay some terms and conditions to limit who gets the freebies.
Ultimately this site is here to help consumers, businesses have the BCC, localCCs, CBI, FfSB and hundreds of other organisations - a long time ago I decided that I wasn't going to join the "protecting businesses" side - there's already enough.
So while I do understand and some people do push it too hard sometimes. Overall I'm very proud of the way the forums work

As for Edna B's comment about the thing that goes in the e-mail. We try and be as careful as possible to ensure they're companies that can cope with the traffic.
However these companies use freebies for promotion - and by being in the e-mail they certainly get that - may companies are overjoyed at the mention and the traffic they receive.

The point is the idea got an airing. I didn't expect anyone to "do" anything, especially Martin. It's absolutely up to you how you behave and who you deal with and how. If the expression of the sentiment that maybe some people go for too much makes you feel defensive, as it seems to, then maybe that's telling.Under no circumstances may any part of my postings be used, quoted, repeated, transferred or published by any third party in ANY medium outside of this website without express written permission. I laugh at the people that ask for freebies and when they don't get them complain and say they will never use them again

I have just remembered one other things about other's behaviour that really ought to be mentioned here. I would argue that Tescos changed their overcharge policy as a DIRECT result of some people on here (and presumably elsewhere but I personally don't know of other places). It was a case of "get down to Tesco, clear the shelf of miss-priced cola (or whatever), claim the item free and get a full refund and walk out with a trolley of free cola and money in the pocket. Some were, literally, clearing the shelf and getting banned from stores. It wasn't just cola prices - some higher value items were touted too. and some presumably ended up on ebay and the like. I benefited from this a couple of times when my "true" shop went a bit wrong-priced and something like a packet of meat was overcharged. Nice to be surprised for something you needed.
Now it's "just" double the difference. Go figure, as they say in the states.Under no circumstances may any part of my postings be used, quoted, repeated, transferred or published by any third party in ANY medium outside of this website without express written permission. Thank you.0
