A pencil eraser works well with crayon or pencil on laminate flooring.

Same problem here. I haven't a solution so will be watching this thread with interest (especially as we are in a rented house - I do NOT want to have to pay for new flooring out of our deposit!)Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

I'm on the brink of ordering laminate for half my house, including the room I'm going to use as an office. My chairs in there will be office type chairs, ie on wheels - will these scratch laminate flooring? Please save me from making an expensive mistake as I could yet swap to carpet.
Thanks!0 -
SnowyOwl, I would strongly recommend NOT getting laminate due to the amount of upkeep it takes - I have to hoover ours every otherday, if not everyday when DD is about plus you get these mysterious dustballs that appear from no-where just when you've finished hoovering/sweeping and make it look like you haven't done a thing. Don't even get me started on how slippery it can be if you spill something or have wet shoes!
We have "proper" office chairs and there is a large paler patch where the chair used to be, it got so bad I relocated the desk so try and even out the wear pattern!
As I said in my previous post, we are in rented accomodation and I'm so glad the laminate was already fitted when we moved in. Had we bought our own place instead of renting this place, I would have put laminate flooring throughout the house but I have learnt my lesson well (and hopefully at no cost to me) and will be sticking to carpet in all rooms from now on (lino in the bathroom and kitchen though) even if I have to buy the cord type stuff!

you can get things to put your furniture in to stop it marking. ikea sells the pads you stick on your furniture to stop it marking your floor. i would much rather have laminate as it's much more hygenic, you do notice stuff on the floor, but is it just hidden in the pile if you have carpet? married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090

We have two rooms with laminate fllor in both bedroooms. To save on cost a few years back and paying B&Q rip off prices for felt type sticky thinsg that go under furniture to stop them scratching we use and old carpet cut in stipes and glued it using one of those glue guns, works a treat. For the other bedroom which we did a bit later we used some felt sticky things from Aldi when they were on sale about £1 a bag. A friend of ours that use computer chair on laminate floor bought a office chair plastic mat.
Sorry can't help with scratches, I wonder if you cna get some wax crayons that can mask the colour, obviously similar colour.
I am looking into trying to repair a chip on a laminate floor that kids did, but I wont pay rip off B&Q prices for a repair kit.0 -
BTW our laminate floor hardle gets cleaned as it doesnt now get all that dusty. We bought a floor sweeper cost a £1 from £1 shop you attach thin sheet of paper type cloth and than give it a sweep once a week or so, depends on how bad it get's. Dpesnt take long and we rarely use the hoover.0
