Got to say we've had pretty poor wireless performance from the superhub - far worse than the ancient Netgear router I was using previously. I'm going to work through the suggestions in the linked thread further up and then I'll give Virgin a call to report it as a technical fault.

Will keep eye open for a replacement router but would rather just get the Superhub working if its possible.

I had a whole heap of problems when I first started using my superhub about 3 months ago but I have manged to get them down to 3.

    1. I use opendns and this requires a router setting changing. I can't remember if it was dns, dhcp or something else but unlike my previous belkin router, the superhub does not allow it. This meant I had to go round changing the corresponding setting for all my connected wireless devices instead.

    2. There is no manual. You have to go to the help pages on VM's site and it is not very comprehensive.

    3. I want to connect a nintendo ds console wirelessly using it's wep security but even though the superhub is supposed to offer this as an option I find that the wep radio button is always greyed out and is unselectable.

Apparently a lot of the problems were fixed by a firmware upgrade at the end of last year so I 'm hoping that VM are still working on another one in the near future.

wep mode only works in 54mbps wifi mode

We came across this issue but I didn't want to set the security of the main wireless to WEP so got round it by configuring the one of the secondary/guest SSIDs to 54Mpbs & WEP mode. worked a treat :)

First of all thanks for the replies.

What security does the superhub has? WEP only or WAP? Which is more secure?
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

    It supports both.

WAP is the one to use. If you have some antiquated piece of kit that is WEP only you can set up a guest network to give it access as mentioned above.

Probably the most secure thing about the Superhub is it's pretty abysmal WiFi performance. I suspect most will be completely invisible to anybody not in the same room.

I am currently running one guest network with the primary network at 2.4 GHz. If I switched to 5GHz won't this apply to all networks?
I think all my wireless devices support 5GHz mode so I'm hoping that I won't need to change or reconfigure anything on the superhub's current wireless settings(i.e. security, ip filters etc).
Then there should be no problems with enabling guest network 3 in wep mode, yes?

IIRC the Superhub can only use one frequency at a time, so I suspect the guest networks would also change to 5ghz.

It's one of the slightly annoying things, a lot of routers can cope with 2.4ghz and 5ghz, but only one or the other at any one time.

Delivery guy came yesterday and left a card since no one was at home. On the card it gave no further instructions. Went online and also rang the customer helpline to check on my delivery and what is the next step to take but iin both cases they did not recognise the ref. number of the delivery card. My tracking number only gives the location of the package.

The delivery company is yodel. Have heard stories about them so I looked at the rear of the house in case they left it there. No success.

    See what happens today.
