  • I am sorry that you feel that way. I tried to provide as much information as I could in my posts to explain why this remark could be considered crass and insensitive. I accept this was not the intention, all the same - it was ill-placed and likely to cause offence to those undergoing fertility treatment, particularly those who have used an egg donor.

Ah the good old "why don't you just adopt" line.....almost as irritating as "relax and it will happen".

Best of luck OP. I think most clinics actively encourage you to shop around for drugs, as they make up such a big part of the expense. I'm in the west mids too and have just had treatment, am usually around here if you ever fancy a chat.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! That "relax and it will happen" line is the most patronising, annoying condescending line! I heard it over and over again when trying to pregnant. (Husband had low sperm count).
I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
Mortgage is my only debt - Original mortgage - January 2008 = £88,400, March 2014 = £47,000 Chipping away slowly! Now saving to move.

Definatly ask your GP about funding your drugs, I know a few people who's gp's have funded. Also if this is not an option for you. I know that Asda pharmacy used to be really cheap for drugs (sold at no profit but not sure if still do.)
With regards to adoption thing, adoption is totally different from ivf using donor eggs. I had one round of ivf on nhs that ended in chemical pregnancy and we choose not to take our second turn as decided that adoption was route for us. We are nearing end of homestudy and will be approved for under 2. It is 100% the correct choice for us but adoption is a very hard process and it takes a certain type of person who can adopt.
With regards to stupid comments, it gets no better when you stop ttc. We get now as soon as you adopt I bet you will fall pregnant.
Good luck with what ever you decide.

    Thank you.

No we are just nearing end of our homestudy will hopfully be going to panal soon. Dont think we will wait to long to be matched as our local authority has a lot of under 2's in the system. Sad for the children but as a prospective adopter it usually means a quick match.
