where did you find your pictures?
Did you do a factory restore or a system restore
the 3rd link might be useful, it's for backup
does IE work
which AV/firewall is in use
Is it wired or wireless
is there any proxy setting enabled in IE/Chrome
I think it was a symstem restore when it had finished which was after about nearly 2 hours it looked exactly the same as when we first got it.
the laptop is wireless.
IE is working its what i'm using now.
i have downloaded avast and removed microsoft essentials.
I found my pictures through recuvva.
not sure about proxy settings i have checked the the item is unchecked which the error message tells me tohave now given up smoking since feb 13th 2014 loving the money I'm saving0 -
factory restore put's it back to factory state, system restore doesn't touch your data. If you really did a factory restore, you are lucky to get your photo's back.
try turning off firewall as a test, if not reinstall chrome maybe or stick to ie.!!

I'm very surprised if OP did a full factory restore.
Usually it well protected against being done by accident
You need to press a particular F key at a specific point during the boot up sequence
Then it lauches a special program outside windows which warns you quite clearly about what you are abut to do and what will be the consequences and specifically wants to confirm that you really really do want to do this
(This is Dell machine)
Then having done it the PC needs to re-update it self all over again with all the updates from the last X years which is goig to take some time and will require the user to re-boot the machine on severla occassions during the process.
and you loose all your installed software...............0 -
2 hours is a long time for any type of restore, Some pc angel type non destructive restore's can take a while though.!!

I'm a little confused...
When you say you downloaded stuff, do you mean directly on your machine, or did you download elsewhere, and then copied it over?
Also you mention signing in to google, how if the browsers/internet doesn't work. Unless it does and...?
Obvious questions. Did you install any wireless drivers?
How are you posting this, another machine?0 -

If you did a Factory Restore, it would have given you a BIG warning that you would lose all your data-you couldn't have missed that. Which makes me think that you merely did a System Restore, which is reversible.
You are now going to back up all your recovered data immediately, aren't you?No free lunch, and no free laptop
