Hi everyone
I'm having a quiet weekend.- Cleaning round - using the wonder that is Stardrops

- Training the pooch with the help of YouTube and not spending £££ on professional dog trainer. Today it's 'Go to your bed'... We'll see how he gets on - he currently knows it's something to do with his bed but either gets one paw on or runs across it - just need to get him to stay there :rotfl: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQzXdAA3vk8
- Night in tonight - bottle of vino from Ts finest deal - ate the accompanying main and side the other night

- Going a big long walk in the sunshine - off to the Botanical Gardens to see if spring has sprung there already
- Checked banking and all ccs
- Call mum and sis with free weekend mins
- Listed something I got for free for sale and changed the price of something else to 'Low Price'
- Bit of yoga coursework
The snowball calc I did says I can pay off just under £5k before the end of the year so I'm trying to think of the extra cash I can chuck debt's way to get on with my mission!
Catch up soon y'all xxxx0 - Cleaning round - using the wonder that is Stardrops

Good morning all,
Well I have to admit to having a similar none mse day to Foxglove yesterday  including a takeaway with the girls. Although, in years gone by we would have hit the town and easily spent a lot more, so for us it was mse I suppose.
so will have to be extra frugal over the weekend to make up for my liberal ways!
So today I will
- check the bank accs
- read the papers online
- have a lsd
- make something homemade and tasty from the store cupboard
- housework
- spend some quality time with my middle child as small child has gone away on first brownie camp and big teen will do his own thing.
- browse mse for ideas
Thanks to ally for the links, very useful
And the sun is shining here, so plan to make the most of that too. Hope everyone has a lovely day.:money:0 -
Hi Weekend-people,
Gorgeous day here today, which has lifted my spirits no end!
So far today, I have:
*Read the Guardian online instead of buying one.
*Done surveys.
*No heating on as it's so warm. have shut doors in sunniest rooms to keep the temperatures up for tonight.
*Taken delivery of Sainsbury's online order...slightly less money than anticipated as an item I probably didn't need to order at all (let alone order 2 or them!) was out of stock.
While I was unpacking the shopping & putting it away, it occurred to me how many things would go on to have a 2nd life by recycling them into something else & contributing in teensy tiny ways to saving me money. From today's groceries, there are:
-Egg boxes - will be torn up & added to compost.
-Waxed card tray some apples came in - will be used as a seed tray.
-2x clear plastic fruit trays - will be used as mini-propagators.
-Loads of plastic carrier bags - a month's supply of free binliners
-Advisory note - Added to recycled A4 paper stash to use in printer.
-Spread tubs - will be cut up to make plastic plant labels.
-Flour bags - will go in the worm composter, they eat them.
-Lemon peels - will be used to clean & whiten kitchen sink.
-Strong clear plastic bags from things like tortilla wraps/rice, etc - will be used as freezer bags, as often these are stronger than the bought ones.
-Cereal box - usually cut up into strips to use for shopping lists
-Eggshells - crushed & added to worm composter instead of having to buy the lime mix.
-Fresh parsley - looks like I'll be able to pot up at least 3 little roots for new plants as my parsley didn't survive the winter.
-Plastic milk cartons - these are cut in half lengthways & used as seed trays or fake 'guttering' for sowing peas.
-Receipts - after budgeting done, all receipts are wetted & added to compost bins (any ID fraudsters wanting to stick those back together covered in slimy gunk....bring it on!)
-Vegetable/fruit peelings - all added to compost bins.
-Coffee grounds - Saved & used to mulch acid loving plants like blueberries or as slug barrier around lettuces.
Admittedly most of these are recycled for gardening purposes, but it just struck me while putting all the shopping away, just how much useful free stuff there is that can be recycled. After yesterday's non-MSE day, I felt quite proud & a bit hardcore today, lol!
@ally- Loved reading about your wild garlic. Yes, the smell is unmistakeable, isn't it? I love foraging. Now the new Spring growth is starting, I shall be making nettle soup soon, & also look out for good blackthorn blossom so as to know where the best sloes will be found later in the year.

Evening (where it is here) from a very wet (songkraan festival) Thailand.
I continue with my fledgling motorcycle trading sideline.
Last week I bought and sold my first motorcycle. Paid 20,000 baht sold it to a colleague two days later for 23,000 baht.
Reinvested some of the proceeds in a 2008 125 cc Yamaha Nouvo. Paid 17,000 baht for it. I will advertise it for sale for 19,500 baht after songkraan.
Picked up 3 boxes of French books from the auction for 100 baht (about 2 pounds fifty). I will take them into town and sell them to one of the second hand book shops for a reasonable profit.
I bid on a couple of other motorcycles at the auction but had the discipline to stop bidding when the price became too high to sell on for a profit.
Bought a nice oil painting at the auction for 400 baht
Off to watch the footy on the big screen tonight. I will limit myself to two beers to make it a cheap Saturday night out.0 -
Afternoon all,
Thanks for starting us off Candy.
Didn't get round to posting yesterday as had a very busy day, & DH had his phone stolen so we're trying to deal with that now...Fortunately I am out of contract now so he can have my old phone when I upgrade. (He is in contract for another year still!) I am refusing to upgrade just yet though as Orange want essentially £1000 for a Samsung Galaxy S4! It doesn't matter if you go for the £36 or the £41 a month contract, with the price of the phone on top you will pay £1063.99 in total providing you don't go over what's included in your tariff, forget that! I will wait until I can get it on a tariff similar to my own (£20.50 a month).
Today I have/will:-- B/L/D from stores
- Log calories on free app
- Dinner from meal plan - Veggie lasagne, having to subsitute the kale for spring greens & spinach though as I can't find it anywhere! Must be out of season, hope my alternatives work well.
- Checked postcode lottery - no luck still
- Charged phone via pc
- Heating off as long as possible & on low if needed
- Check online banking
- Check for new mystery shopping opportunities
- Enter some comps
- Do some surveys
- Declutter & flylady
- Check FB to see if anyone wants to buy the guitars we're selling
- A few mins of strength building exercises on my pole, free exercise

- Do a bit more filing of our financial docs
- Go to second job tonight, drive & not drink to save money
- Catch up on yesterday's thread
- Bit of DIY pampering

So inspired by these posts.
Trying to have a cheap weekend so stayed in all day and had lunch from stores. House sitting this week so relying on their stores which are not up to my usual standard as I have a lot of good tins to fall back on eg chick peas and beans as well as sardines. They left me biscuits and half eaten easter eggs so have had to hide them!
Have friends coming over tomorrow for lunch so going to make a veggie cottage pie and we are going to have champagne leftover from my significant birthday stash. I know!
Off out now to do some reading for a blind person who pays me. I love it too!
Happy Saturday evening folks.:jLBM September 2011

Hello All
Another big Wild Garlic fan here. Been using it in tarts, it is lovely with goats cheese as well.
Have either of you read Dennis Cotters book @Ally/Foxgloves? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wild-Garlic-Gooseberries-Me-stories/dp/0007364067/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1365874230&sr=1-4&keywords=denis+cotter
Having a low key weekend. Worked earlier, now at home with the family watching Dr Who. Something on toast for tea and a couple of DVDs.
@TheBoss - Pizza is very easy to make, what recipe are you using, what are the issues you've had? Enjoy the potato curry wont you.

morning peeps
Not been too bad for me this weekend.
"quick" drink after work friday turned into a massive night out but they boys we were with paid more than we did so wasn't too expensive. Cue hangover yesterday and not leaving the house so NSD but had dinner out in the evening but it was less than £30 with a tip and good to see friends I hadn't seen in a while.
Today will not be a NSD as have got to get food in but have made a list so should be fairly minimal and helping a friend with his exams at 3 so NS there.
Trying to keep next week as no spending apart from my training and avoid meeting people for lunches/coffees etc as it's just less than 2 weeks until pay day so want to save some of what I have budgeted for food and entertainment if I can.I want to be a writer0
