If he would still like to improve his literacy skills I highly recommend Toe by Toe for reading and word wasp for spelling. They are designed to be used at home one to one. I do use them in school as much as possible but its hard as its one to one and should be daily but the results are so worth it.

just talked to tax credit people about being overpaid roughly £3000 by mistake and was told i needed to pay it back, it was all a mistake and i dont owe them anything in fact they owe me a few weeks payments from when they stopped them I am so releived have been worried for the last few weeks while they have been looking in to it :j
Great news. I was a civil servant way back when you had to be British to get in, and the thought of making this sort of mistake in any branch of the civil service was unthinkable. They so obviously employ the wrong staff today.
Nothing to do with race or crede - just less of a quality of staff, too little training, too little concern for the job. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Another 'old' Civil Servant here Enterprise - many moons ago.
I remember having to do 26 weeks full training, then a further 26 weeks with a 'guardian angel' checking our work.
I think part of the problem today is that the newer staff receive 4/8 weeks training for a quite complex system, before being let loose on the telephones.0 -

I was on the administrative side, as close to being a PA as you could get in the service, including buying boss's wife's birthday preset, whoever the boss happened to be at the time, 3 year/1 year placements allowing. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Got 1 pack of the 1p chocs... they had about 30 packs yesterday so either someone is hot in my local or teh staff are getting wise... my moneys on the staff.... hardly ever have any 1p items anymore and hardly ever reduce stuff either.

Are you saying that mistakes are made due to the employment by the civil service of non-british nationals? I could be wrong but that's how your post reads to me.0 -
