My math includes purchase, insurance, tax, mot, servicing, fuel, breakdown cover and parking permits.

After 5 years the diesel is £24,500 all in and the petrol £25,500.

Think that the petrol figure maybe a little low as i'm prone to opening the taps on my current 2.5 v6, with a 3.2 the temptation would be near impossible to resist.

Your math does not seem to compute the likely maintenance issues :D

I've had a Freelander for 11 years now.

Maintenance isn't to bad unless it's major, which luckily i've never had to deal with.
Back to square one, no apg, no comment.
