Argos home delivery -A bit crap.

Never used Argos Home Delivery before, but for some reason the 3 very small items I wanted were only available for home delivery, so last Saturday I ordered them. Next to all three items it stated 'Delivery Within 4 Days!'. I had an email almost immediately after which stated "We will contact you by Monday 8 April 2013 to arrange a convenient date and time for your delivery".
Monday comes and goes, in fact the whole week goes by and not a peep from Argos. No email, no call and no delivery. All my items are still showing as 'Delivery Within 4 Days' and none are actually here.
Not really very impressed. I have emailed and asked what on earth is going on but I'm not holding out any hope of receiving my order any time soon.
Is this par for the course with Argos home delivery then?

I've ordered twice for delivery from Argos. Once was for a lamp that took ages to arrange delivery, the same as yours. The second was for a sofa - that, we arranged fairly quickly, but it didn't turn up on the day. OH called at the end of the day to ask where it was, and was told that the delivery department was closed and to call back the next day. He did, and was told 'It'll be out for delivery today'. No apology - they simply expected that the next day would be convenient, despite him originally booking the day off to wait in.0

Yes that's normal.
You can ring if you like but it's not really worth the cost of the phone call as they deliver randomly and the delivery dates don't bear much resemblance to what is listed on the computer the call centre uses.0 -

A date would be nice but not even got that. As these are only small items I'd guess they are coming through Royal Mail Special Delivery but tbh I have no idea whatsoever because when I look at my account it gives me no details other than the option to call them (dont think so!).
I'm leaning towards the 'sod it and cancel' option right now0 -
I have had an awful time with Argos home delivery.
I ordered 3 dolls from the new Disney film OZ on 17th March, get an email to say delivery within 14 days. Thought that seemed a bit long but only place I could order them. It also said they would contact me by 29th March to arrange delivery. 29th comes and goes so I ring on 2nd April.
I'm told that the items are with Royal Mail and I will receive them by Friday.....no items arrive!
Ring again, speak to the resolutions department who say there is a problem in the system so they haven't been sent out (I was lied to on the 2nd April) They say they will resend the order out, with an extra doll from the set as a 'Gesture of goodwill' and it will be with me Wednesday. On Wednesday we receive a call to say they are with Royal Mail and I will receive them on the following day (Thursday) No items arrive on Thursday. I ring at 6.20pm and am told the lady who had dealt with the order on the Friday would ring me back ASAP....7.40pm still no phonecall so I ring them back. Get told she is on a call and will get back to me in a few seconds, after being told by this member of staff they didn't want to deal with my delivery problem. Again, no phonecall, I then ring back and they are closed!!!
Today comes, no items again, then they ring back, apparently having not got the message to ring me last night (yeah right!) Apparently the items are with Royal Mail, ask for tracking number and get told there isn't one, so how they know where the items are, I do not know!
Eventually they say they will resend the order by 4pm today on special delivery and they will arrive tomorrow and to keep the original order when it arrives.
We will see if they turn up!
If anyone wants the free phone number to the resolutions department, it is 0800 0850565
I will never order from Argos again after this.0 -

call me an old cycnic but if I hear that one trotted out I kind of assume they never sent it the first time and they're saying that to play for time.

So do I, it should be in the DSR's I think, a sod it option lol.
It was only 3 soda stream syrups, for some reason you cant buy Root beer syrup in shops yet and Sodastream themselves want silly money for postage so I thought I'd treat myself to some.
Frankly I'm thinking it would have been easier to nip down the Chinese supermarket and buy a crate(could have bought a crate of Mountain Dew as well
)

I ordered a table & chairs set beginning of February & earliest date they could deliver was 5th March, around 4 weeks after my order was placed. Wasn't happy but I liked the set so thought it'd be worth the wait!
During the month waiting for delivery, I was browsing & noticed the table & chairs had changed from 28 days delivery to "delivered within 4 days" so just out of curiosity I went all the way to checkout, and sure enough, I could've had table & chairs delivered by the Wednesday, and this was the Sunday!!!! 3 bloody days!!!!!!!
Why I had to wait a month is beyond me.......
And they said they'd text/ring me on the day of delivery with a time window. And they didn't ring whatsoever, so why say in the email they would?
Annoyed me massively about the delivery dates........0 -
Whether I order a bed or small item of furniture (bookcase) it always arrives on the day I chose at checkout or have been called to arrange delivery within the time stated.
Guess I have been lucky!
I do wish they had better order tracking though, these days it should be standard to be emailed upon despatch with tracking number for courier comapny but Argos still don't offer that.0
