AirCanada Lost Snowboard Bag

Hi, last year myself and girlfriend went to whistler to ski/snowboard. We took a snowboard with us in snowboard bag (costing £40 as extra bagge) which had boots and other items such as snowboard pants. The bag didn't turn up in Vancouver airport and we were told by AirCanada lost baggage that it was ok to go and buy any replacement gear you needed to continue with the ski holiday, so we bought 2 pairs of snowboard pants and hired a snowboard and boots. A few days in to our holiday we were contacted and informed they had found our bag and it would be delivered the following day. We stayed in that day waiting but the bag didn't arrive, wasting a day of skiing and a day on the expesive ski pass. The bag was returned to us in the UK greater than 21 days after we arrived in Vancouver and I believe the Montreal Convention says that this is classed as a 'lost' bag.
Basically the airline are saying they will only re-imbures for the Snowboard hire, no refund of snowboard pants or £40 carriage charge. They have said that clothing should not of been in the bag but I don't know any snowboarder who doesn't pack pants/jackets to protect the board. They have also said that due to the fact we don't know the name of the lost baggage rep at Vancouver airport they can't verify the claim. Also they keep ignoring the fact we stayed in one day waiting for a bag that didn't appear, which cost us 1 days ski pass.
They also keep saying the bag was delayed as we got it back.
We were clearly told at the airport to buy any ski equipment, including pants as we described what was in the bag at the time. If they had said at the time that the clothing shouldn't of been in the bag then we wouldn't of bought it.
Do you think I have a claim? Maybe i should write complaint to CAA?
Thanks

Hi, any idea what the correct form should be? Can't seem to find a suitable one.0
