buying house has affected credit score. How can you buy furniture

My son is wanting to purchase a suite after buying his first house but it has affected his credit rating.
It will be two months before he has the funds to purchase outright and needs the furniture now.
I am not in a position to buy on credit for him as my credit limit will not cover the amount.
How can he get round this problem.

Go to a charity shop?
You can get good furniture for under a hundred quid.
It doesn't seem sensible to be getting into debt for something as trivial just after a house purchase?Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
Said Diogenes, “Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.”0 -

Get on the electoral roll at his new address and wait until all 3 CRAs show the new address. Then apply.
To be honest though, if he can't even get credit for new furniture, it's unlikely to be caused by the house move0 -
How do you know that buying a house has affected his score/rating?
Indeed, owning a property is looked at positively by some lenders.0 -
freecycle / freegle - watch the ads and post a message saying what you need and why. We have been very grateful to all the kind people who helped us out.
gumtree - and try and negotiate the price.
auction house.
Do not think it is worth getting into debt for. Concentrate on paying off the mortgage.0 -
maybe he should have bought a cheaper house and a suite
tbh i have little sympathy(you guessed?)our first house was furnished almost totally with second hand stuff, until we could afford new0 -
Tell everyone you know that he's looking out for household stuff and that if anyone's replacing old stuff, he'll give it a home.0

That said, £600 or so isn't a lot of money.
OP, I had a pair of deckchairs* (back in 1982) until I could afford to buy my suite (with cash).
Is there any reason why he can't do that, because, at the end of the day, a suite now is a 'want' not a 'need'.
* They blended in nicely with my second hand B&W TV and 'twin-tub' washing machine. Other than a mortgage, I've never been in debt in my life. Coincidence?...I think not!0 -
Sitting on orange boxes used to be a rite of passage when you set up your first home.

I've still got one of those orange boxes - very solid and hard-wearing they were! Ours graduated from stools to be painted up as bedside cabinets.0
