Thanks stenny, I appreciate what you are saying and yes I have kept my eyes open for any kids that may resemble her, I am also aware that she could be dressed as a boy and have her hair cut short and dark, it will be so hard to spot her if thats the case it really will!

I know I don't know the ins and outs and maybe it is a bit harsh to judge when I dont know the actual facts of the event, but what I do know as a fact is that the parents weren't in the room, or even the same building as their children, in fact they were in a BAR (yes a bar, not a restaurant) with their friends. Whatever the time-scale they went to check on them was unacceptable (and 'apparantly' witnesses in the bar that evening said it was anything between 15 mins and 2 hours), they shouldn't have left them there alone.

It just upsets me that people are so ready to protect the parents when any other crime (such as drink driving, or domestic abuse) and people would be appalled but its the same thing??

So to clear this aspect up - if a child is playing in the garden and a car hits them, is it the parents that should get sued for letting the kid out of their sight, or the driver in the car that hit them?

In my mind, it's the person that did the crime that is responsible to the law.

'Suing the parents' type ideas stem from the compensation culture we all seem to live in now, and the 'facts' presented by the media may not be all they seem so my mind isn't made up until further information comes to light, which given the timescale, seems less and less likely but fingers crossed.

Yup, but my point is that gross negligence is a crime?

I guess you dont have kids the way you think its acceptable to leave them home alone? Parents are responsible for their kids and thats the bottom line, if they are keeping an eye on them, only a couple of meters away, playing out in the front or back garden and they get injured in an accident then it is a different scale to popping out to the pub to get drunk with friends and leaving them to look after themselves?

If the child has run out of the garden, then the parents are responsible, to an extent. Then it depends on how the driver was driving.

If the driver has driven into the garden...... I think that one's fairly obvious :)

    WELL SAID HUN.
At the end of the line we are all just concerned, yes we know who is to blaim, but in reality this is not the case at this time, we all have a duty to look out for this girl, neglect we can call it, but the main issue is to keep our eyes wide open at this stage and hope she is alive and well!
But first, the most asked question:

Q "Is anything worn under your kilt???"

A "No. Everything is in perfect working order Thank You!!."

It would be amazing if someone could find her, it really would wouldn't it and you are right we should all be aware, I just dunno if it will do any good at all, but there is always a small chance I guess :)

That all depends. If people live on a main road and don't secure their gardens and a child runs out into the road, yes they are negligent. If the driver was within the speed limit, no they weren't.

We all take risks with our children every day. However, I know of no-one who'd leave their under-5s in a house while they went out, locked in or not, however often they checked on them. If that happens in the UK people are rightly criticised for it. This was a completely avoidable risk.

However, these arguements have been gone over and over on the threads, and few people have been persuaded of a different point of view, from what I've seen.

Why do people keep comparing 3 under 4's being left ALONE sleeping where one gets abducted, with misfortunate things which are more often than not out of parensts control.
We can't keep an eye on 0ur children 24/7 but anyone wth an ounce of common sense knows it's dangerous to leave a toddler alone, they do wake up ya know, infact it was 3 toddlers!
I know they must be goint through it and cant begin to understand what they must be going through but i still dont understand how people can defend their actions!

But when someone abducts a child, lets be clear, there is only one person responsible - the kidnapper.

So in this case the parents are blameless are they, the fact remains that the child would never have been abducted if they had not left her and given someone the chance, I am sorry but in my book they are equally as responsible.
