First post here but felt I had to sign up after searching for info on Genius Energy.I am a former MCS registered pv designer/installer and therefore know 'a bit about how it all works'. I was handed a quote from Genius Energy provided to a friend of a friend in order to give it the once over for them. I was frankly shocked at what I saw. The system quoted for (which would not fit on the client's roof!) was twice the going rate - nearly £12k for a sub 4kW system! With their finance package, it was coming in at over £23k!!! [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] I shall be reporting the company to RECC and Trading Standards but I fear nothing will be done. [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] There is also little doubt in my mind that richbynameonly37 is likely an employee of the company!
No mate, not an employee just happy with my panels and the way I have been treated?? Sorry you have a negative option but it not one I share - I thought this forum was for objective opinions and views not just negative postings. Would be very easy for me to post a negative review on the chap from Wren kitchens I had round last week but I its hardly productive to do so?? Thought it might be a good thing to post but maybe not - dare say this is my last post on this foum0 -

You would do better to tell us exactly the specification of the system that they installed and the cost of it and from that we would be able to form our opinions of whether it was value for money or not.
Forgive me for being skeptical, but just singing the praises of a company without actually giving us the facts needed for an informed opinion sets alarm bells ringing. As I often say, an opinion not backed by evidence is worth very little!

If it was me, I'd send a polite communication to ask them to remove me from their marketing database(s), ensuring that they were made aware that I was familiar with their obligations to do so by referencing ... http://ico.org.uk/for_organisations/sector_guides/marketing , giving them a reasonable timescale to comply, after which they would be charged (£x) as an administration fee for each communication received and that receipt of future communication would be considered as acceptance of my own terms & conditions, this being in addition to the ICO/DPA route ... started doing this about 15years ago and it's usually successful without having to resort to either contact the ICO or gain a section 11 court order ...

My wife made an appointment with them the other day. They phoned before to check, then took 5 minutes to tell me they couldn't attend on time! They then took loads of information from me that she had already given them.
Having arranged a new appointment tonight, and explained they could only call me (no mobile use for my wife at work) they have texted her for the last two days.
Just phoned them to tell them to do one. If they're that administratively incompetent, I don't want them on my roof!
The fact that they can't be bothered to post a defence here to the criticisms raised just adds fuel to the fire...0 -
Just spoke to these on the phone, they didn't listen to me (or couldn't hear me properly) as they rattled through their questions, I asked them to repeat something and they said ok that's great and carried on to the next thing on their list. It didn't just happen the once...
They might find I'm nowhere to be found when they come to visit next week...0 -

MATE I USED TO WORK WITH GENIUS ENERGY THIS IS THE FRAUDLENT COMPANY EVER THEY MAKE UP ALL THE FIGURES TO MAKE IT LOOK AND SOUND GOOD SO YOU SIGN ON THE DOTTED LINE.
The Bankgroud of the owner [REMOVED PERSONAL INFORMATION] who was the owner of Genius Financial Managment who by law should not be trading as he owes thousands of pounds to his customers... THIS GUY OR THIS COMPANY CAN NOT BE TRUSTED0 -
Thank you for these posts, I had Genius Energy in my home . They told me that I had to qualify for government subsidies first ? But I thought anyone could get them if you had standard home energy rating of D ? If this is true then this is very serious misrepresentation. They came back second time, (high pressure)
and told me I was very lucky to qualify as only half qualify. This is all very strange. I want solar but dont trust what I am hearing.
My brother is so angry he says he will call them and get them to come to his house so that he can record them and report them if they have done anything wrong?0 -
I went to the Genius Energy training as a "energy consultant". Half way through training I popped into the sales room for a chat with a couple of the old hands.
The information given to me shocked me. In training we where told we were providing an excellent service for a fair price and would get a decent commision. (100k plus, turns out even that is not correct, average is probably under 30k) In real terms we were to sell at twice the going rate (13k plus) and the price quoted to the client would be dependant upon what they could afford (wow) and what we could make their savings look like. ie the more you save the more you pay us.
I also became aware that the company used to be a lot bigger until they had a mass lay off over the summer. Went from about 35 in sales to only about 10.
The funny thing was they sent all the managers out and the sales director to push the sales and they didnt do very well.(Got a lot of laughs in the sales room about that)
Needless to say I walked out of the door as quickly as I could. But please be aware that even the sales team if they are new dont know the whole story, I only found out through chatting to the old hands. I was lucky, it only cost me a few days of my time.
Pump and dump is a phrase that I would use for the recruitment of the sales team at genius energy.0
