    HI all!

Joined GrassRoots last week, and I've not had a dickie bird since. I've been logging on a couple of times a day, and there's also nothing in assignments no longer available section either.

Oh well, guess there's nothing in my area at the moment. Maybe I'll have more luck with RetailEyes!

I am supposed to be doing my first stamp shop tomorrow. I have read through the brief but it says that I must obtain a receipt for my purchase or a pop stamp. The reimbursement is £5. If I get a pop stamp it is free so why would I get £5 reimbursement or do I?

The POP is free, but you will still have to pay postage for the thing you are proving you have posted (in most cases).

That's what you will be reimbursed for.

  • Why would you want to risk it? It isn't as if you were buying something which will be a waste of money - buy £5 worth of stamps, and claim it as reimbursement. That way it is a necessary expenditure for doing your MS, so the IR aren't interested in it. If you don't spend anything, and still get reimbursed £5 (and I am not guaranteeing you will get reimbursed) you would have to pay tax on the £5.

I have never received a receipt for purchasing stamps before, is it possible to get a receipt for stamps?

Yes of course it is. Used to get receipts every week when I was at work and it was my job to purchase them!

Ok, thanks for the responses! I will purchase stamps, ask for a receipt and use them for Christmas.

But it does help if you post a parcel because the POP acts as a receipt. If you buy stamps and post something, you can generally get a receipt without having to ask for one, so it feels less obvious. If you pay by card they usually give you one without asking too.

Good luck, the first shop is always the scariest!

  • Do I have to use a debit card or can I pay in cash? When I looked at these assignments in the past it asked if you had one of a list of cards but it doesn't any more.

I don't shop for that MS company because I just feel they take the mickey with their fees and the way their staff treat the shoppers on their books is dreadful (lack of contactability etc.) BUT my point is re the 'stamp shop' visits, even when I'm just there buying stamps for myself I find I often get asked if I want a receipt. I agree in saying I wouldn't worry about it. It would feel a lot less obvious here, than when you have to ask for a receipt for e.g. a can of Coke in a convenience store.
