Replace a single front tyre or both?

one's diff will be strutting its stuff all the time.....every little bit of steering movement, no matter how insignificant, means one or other of the drive wheels will be turning faster than the other.although replacing a diffhaving a crash
that's a bit dramatic, isn't it?
I wonder how many cars have crashed, where the minuscule difference in drive-wheel tyre diameter was a contribution?
Bear in mind, I doubt anybody on this forum....as an example, have absolutely identical tyre pressures in their drive-wheel tyres?
Meaning, they're going to have slightly different rolling radii? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Well, it looks like I might not be able to contribute to this forum for much longer as I have just replaced 1 tyre on the front!!
So my diff is going to explode and I'm going to crash next time I try to corner in the wet!
In over 20 years of driving I have only ever replaced tyres as and when needed with no consideration of single/pair front/rear.
As pointed out above, your diff will be active 99% of the time, regardless of what is happening with your tyres.
I have never driven that close to the edge, that front/rear grip differential has come into play and doubt that most normal, careful driver would. If you start to aquaplane you are going too fast for the conditions.0 -

I was referring to a crash being caused by having better tyres on the front, nothing to do with the diff
