Take a more balanced view.
With greater freedoms there are greater risks but that doesn't make greater freedoms undesirable but does mean that the risks must be managed better.
Of course there was insufficient regulation but no-one seriously wants to go back to the pre 1980 days either.
Two paths.
"One of which leads inevitably to slavery on to freedom" the lady once said.
Are we really free or just slaves to another owner."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
"big business is parasitic, like a mosquito, whereas I prefer the lighter touch, like that of a butterfly. "A butterfly can suck honey from the flower without damaging it," "Arunachalam Muruganantham0 -

Obviously not all the way. We just went way too far.
Do you think we are truly free, you may have a bigger run? There is just another puppet master promising only half truths for the majority."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Don't understand a word.
Have we been celebrating the weekend a little early?0 -
She gets alot of credit for the things shes done when others would have done things differently. She was kept in parliamint 3 times by the public even though times were tough. On another note she should be admired because she got to the top of her profession which was predominantly male orientated. She became of one this countries greatest icons (in many peoples eyes) and best of all she didnt flaunt her body or shake her booty. Great role model to females everywhere.0

You have made the point they we are free. That we can make our own choices rather than being controlled. I merely pointed out that we may have more space to make choices but we are just controlled in other ways."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

I actually said 'greater freedoms'.
Your argument is the argument of every apologist for every unpleasant dictatorship ...0 -

It has absolutely nothing to do with dictatorships but everything to do with reality."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

It would be interesting to see this poll (or a similar one) broken down by age group.
I know for a fact that if it was the done amongst those aged between 45 and 55 (people who were of working age for all or some of her peremiership) the answer would be "no"
This would be a true reflection of the feeling at the time rather than the eulogising which has taken place over the last couple of days.
(Including many people who weren't even around at the time)
Regardless of any good she might have done it must never be forgotten that, at the time, she was thoroughly despised by a large proportion of the population.0
