Dont think he can claim this back but my fella went overdrawn on his allowed overdraft by 26p
It was too late to go to the bank at the weekend when he spent it but put it in on Monday morning when the bank opended but got a letter a couple of days later that the charge is £30 as they had to pay the 26 but they dont take it out for them
Surely it doesnt cost them £30 to cover him for 26p
Well he has never done it before and is never going to do it again hopefullyNeeding to lose weight start date 26 December 2011 current loss 60 pound Down. Lots more to go to get into my size 6 jeans0 -
Hello everyone, I just wanted to bring up to date my claim against Barclays, it was stayed on 14th August 'Cardiff Carve Up' 600 claimants. Well I took my application and objections to remove stay, it was refused. I appealed, by the way Fullingdale they told me a letter is all that's required, guess what ? I have recieved a Notice of Hearing of Application for 19th October 10.30am in Cardiff CC !! I am now looking at all the info on the CAG sites there is an awful lot of it I will need to take with me, I am going to get stressed all over again I am sure!!0

Hello everyone, I have popped over here to read up. If you go over to the CAG site you will learn a great deal about what is going on There are sites listing all MPs written to, and replies I sent letters to MP, MEP,The MOR, FSA and uncle tom cobly and all!! . All template letters needed for every possible situation loads and loads of really excellent advice.:cool:0 -
I wrote to A&L in march using the template letter and of course giving my correct address and account number.
I received nothing (they cashed the cheque within 2 weeks of receiving it).
I rang to chase and got no help (a couple of months later).
I rang again 2 weeks ago and was told they did not have my letter/or cheque.
I quoted the date the check was cashed and they said they'd look into it.
Today I got a letter from them with errors in my address (co. antrim instead of lincolnshire!) and for a different account number (this was an account I had for 6 months, hardly used and closed last year).
They have not supplied the list of charges; they say that 'although we wrote to you with our response, we consider that your complaint remains unsolved'
Then there is lots of blah blah about court cases etc.
Any advice gratefully received.0 -
If I receive a cheque from the bank but it is not the amount that I am claiming, can I 'cash' it as long as I have sent them a 'part payment without prejudice' letter or am I best not to?0

I had an approved overdraft of 5,000 with barclays. When I commenced my claim against the unfair bank charges, they immediately withdrew my overdraft facility. Following weeks of wrangling barclays offered me a settlement figure of almost GBP4000 which I accepted and then paid off the remainder of what was now an unauthorised overdraft. Now I am looking to move home I cannot find a mainstream lendor who will consider me because my credit rating has been adversely affected!! I purchased my credit report and there is a large black mark where it says I defaulted to the tune of GBP5,000 with Barclays.
Are they allowed to do this, and is there anything I can do to get this removed from my credit report?0 -
Hi,
I hope you can give me some advice.
Over the years i have incurred and payed a few hundred punds of charges without thought, just considered it my own bad management.
I have always known about claiming charges back... or the fact that you can anyway but i am one of these people who never get round to doing it...... just unorganised.....
i would like to claim these back but am not sure if i have missed the boat.
BUT THIS IS NOT THE BIG PROBLEM ]=
Earlier this year i went into my overdraft, i wasn't currently at home so did not recieve any of my mail. i was under the impression i still had plenty of cash before i went into my authorised overdraft limit but i was wrong.
I carried on using my card in shops everyday to by lunch and dinner at £4-5 a time.
When i returned home a bout a month later everytime i had used my card i incured a £30 fine. totaling to £90 a day. All together totaling to £2163 including interest charges and charges per month of £28 just for bieng overdrawn.
I am only just 20 and am training in the financial market (ironic isn't it) so my wage is nowhere near enough to even come close to paying these off.
I want to know if it is possible to claim these back.
My problem id is HALIFAX has passed my case to a debt collector. they are will ing to make a settlement of £1750. but will i then lose the possibility to claim back. because this is a lot of money. but if i do not pay i am dreading the definate result of a county court judgement.
Please please please help me, thank you for taking the time to read my problem/essay!?!?
Many many thanks

Hi Phil
I had an offer from NCO who were collecting on behalf of Capital 1. They offered 50% of the original debt as full and final settlement, which I accepted. I had been paying them £50 per month but with this offer my other half lent me the money and I thought that would be an end to it. That was June 2005. In May this year I started the process of reclaiming charges from Capital 1 (which is still allowed even thought the debt was collected by a debt collector) and was offered a "goodwill" payment which Capital 1 said they had paid straight into my account against the balance. I told them there was no balance and explained the above...they said that my credit report read "partial settlement" even though they had closed the a/c and were not chasing me for the balance! I checked with my credit report and it does say "partial settlement" and satisfied!...and still shows the default. What I am saying is that if I had just continued to pay the £50 a month the debt would have been completely paid by now and my credit report would say "settled". You can however still chase your credit card company for charges. I'd definately do that if I were you but you need to think hard about the consequences of accepting an offer of a reduced amount.
Sorry to go on a bit but hope it helps.0 -
Hi
I have asked Northern Rock for a list of charges applied to an old mortgage a/c and have now got the list. I have calculated that I was charged £510 and have asked for it back (with 8% interest taking the total to £693.70) They have of course said "on yer bike" and gave me a load of old waffle about the proceedures they use when an a/c is in arrears, trying to justify their charges which they say are all above board and I agreed to etc. Before I go off and file with MCOL I would just like to be sure that I'm not barking up the wrong tree. Am I right in thinking that I can claim unfair penalty charges for late payments to a mortgage a/c? The account was paid off and closed in August 2003.
(Have successfully claimed £3241.46 from Nationwide on a flexaccount but not 100% sure that the same can be applied to a mortgage account) Please confirm.
