Maternity Pay - confused?

  • Exact text on letter says:-

'18 weeks half pay @£141.63 & SMP @£136.78 for the period xxx to xxx'.

    Surely this means both?
  • I am finding this thread interesting as I officially started my mat leave this Monday and I also work for the NHS.

I was led to believe that in the initial 8 weeks you got full pay plus SMP so in fact got more than your regular wage. This could then be saved to divide between the months where you get less.

I have a booklet given to me from HR with everything in so will see if I can find it :)

No. Policy defo says only full pay for 1st 8 weeks not SMP as well unfortunately.

But you should get half-pay PLUS SMP for the next 18 weeks.
