Is it safe/wise to put an ISA into a bank where you are only able to manage it by online and sometimes phone? I am considering Coventry but there are no branches in Northern Ireland.

Yes. Perfectly fine.
Welcome to the MSE forum. Not sure you really wanted to create a Poll so I haven't voted.0 -
Hundreds of thousands of people have online ISAs.0

I can access my computer faster than it takes me to get to any branch, what makes you think it might be a problem?0
-
Yes no problems many account are Internet/phone access only (can't tell you the last time I had a branch account).Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0

KonkyWonky I just like to go to a branch when an issue comes up rather than over the phone. Plus im only 21 so I don't have much banking experience.
However, the interest rate difference is 0.5 between an in branch account with barclays and the one with coventry which doesnt have branches in my country.
david78 I did mean to create a poll so ill take your vote as a yes.0 -

I've applied for this too.
The online only aspect doesn't bother me. Their identification requirements are an irritant - see Group A documents and certification.0 -
OK I have voted now.
I wouldn't wait until this poll closes to make your decision though. This ISA might not be around that long.0 -

I don't know - the days where I would have known any branch staff are long gone. A quick search of the MSE forum turns up mixed results.
The post office has a document certification service but it costs £7.15.0 -
I don't like queueing in branches or post offices. I don't want to have to make an appointment which will take an hour to do what I could achieve in 5 minutes online.
...and if the OP is worried about access to his money during a bank computer failure - such failures are just as likely to affect the branch systems as the online access.0
