Bank of Scotland high interest a/c

Options
The BOS no longer offers the £100 sign up "bonus" that Martin mentioned in his latest email. They don't tell you about it until AFTER you have signed up for the account though - sharp practice.

  • Yeah, I signed up last night, but when I got to the end, they said "£100 offer is now over" or something to that matter. It's still on their front page and clearly states from 14th May to 30th June though. What's going on?

    Hi guys,

Thanks for alerting us to this, We've spoken to HBOS about this, and the wrong page had been left up (one from last time they ran this offer)

They have confirmed that iof you apply through the Bank of Scotland site, and fulfil the conditions to qualify for the £100, you will be paid it, regardless of whether you see that page

    Cheers

I just rang them up on the 08458503704 number, and was assured by the lady i spoke to that the £100 was ONLY available to those living in Scotland. So living in England, there was no way i could get it!
But no mention of this on the website!!!

I had the same reply - Scotland only! But at the beginnign of the process point 6 states account opened either through Bank of Scotland or Halifax! Is anyone able to get some confirmation in writing, i.e email? I will try that as anything over the phone wouldn't really count if they decide not to pay up. Cleverly point 7 says the offer can be withdrawn at any time...

I have just completed the online forms to switch my current account to the Bank of Scotland’s high interest current account with £100 incentive to switch (as seen in Martin's email on 15 May 2007)

On the final confirmation page it stated that the £100 to switch incentive has now finished.

I called the Bank of Scotland and they said that this only applied to the Halifax’s offer of a £100 sign-up bonus which they pulled a while back.

But – I made another discovery. The application processing team in Glasgow said that the £100 incentive to switch is ONLY APPLICABLE TO SCOTTISH RESIDENTS. I was told that I am not eligible for the £100 as I live outside Scotland.

There is no reference to this in Martin's email and neither is there reference on Bank of Scotland’s website. I am totally disappointed by this!

I have withdrawn my application so as to not let it affect my credit report (by being a wasted search on it!)

Waiting with bated breath to see if this is b0ll0cks or not - or just the warped sense of humour of a jockie wind-up merchant. (Are you going to phone them, MSE Dan??!!)

    Hi guys,

Have spoken to them again, and here is the response

The offer is available to all UK customers. It is only being marketed in Scotland, but HBOS have again confirmed that anyone calling up and specifically requesting the Bank of Scotland account (as opposed to Halifax), or using the www.bankofscotland.co.uk website, will be allowed to take up the offer. If you have received answers contrary to this from the customer services representative you spoke to, it is worth calling again, or applying via the website

  • Just about to apply online when I see that I would need employer name and address. I am just about to become self employed from unemployed status. Would having no employer stop me getting this account even though I can pay in the monthly equivalent of a salary? I hate to miss the free £100 as it would offset the £100 i paid for late tax return!

Anybody received a Yay or Nay for this a/c yet ? I seem to recall the appliform said that an e-msg confirming or denying acceptance would be forthcoming within 7 days. That's getting near...
