first direct ISA

I tried to open a first direct ISA on Saturday, and am quite sure it completed the process, it said something about taking up to 2 days to show in my online banking.
I need to see my account number urgently as I need to contact my existing ISA provider to request a transfer otherwise I will be tied into an ISA for a year that I dont want. The rate will also be pitiful for my 13/14 allowance if I dont get the transfer approved!

Any luck in fully opening the first direct ISA and seeing it in your online banking?

been through the same process - you dont need the numbers, print out the transfer form and you will note its not needed

you might want to ring them to make they have the opening request OK

You go through First Direct to arrange the transfer of your previous years isas not your current provider. The transfer application form is on the left hand side of the page on the cash isa information page.

You could always ring them on 0113 2345678 to check they have opened. Meanwhile you can print off the transfer form and get the isa transferred as quickly as possible.

    Sorry oldfella

We must have both posting at the same time and I was searching around for the transfer request form for them and there it was on the first page.

Similar situation here. Still nothing when I log on, I rang them on Monday to see if it the application appeared on their system and was told it did, but they've been swamped with previous year applications on the Friday from those who've left it to the end to open last year's ISAs. Typical ISA season frenzy rolleyes.gif.

Has yours been opened yet? Still no joy with mine.

I applied Saturday, the money left my current account today (Thursday)
Waiting for the ISA account to materialise.
PS The ISA account number has been allocated and shows on the internal transfer.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

I thought firstdirect were supposed to pride themselves on good service. I rang today to find out when this ISA is likely to be opened (applied last week end) and they tell me they haven't got a clue, they're swamped with a back log for last minute applications for last year. I've got a fixed rate ISA maturing shortly that will need to be transferred into it.

This is the first time I've ever experienced any delay with my FD instructions and I've been with them for years. I applied Monday and the ISA has been opened today. Now waiting for the transfer from my old provider to max the interest percentage.

You must have preferential treatment :). I applied Sunday and it's still not opened. I've other accounts with them too.

I sent them an apple ;)

Thinking about it, the money's gone from my current account but it's not yet showing the new ISA but from past experience with FD I'm pretty confident once the system is updated it'll have been opened today and therefore the interest will start today.....but that still leaves me with a poor rate until I've got the old ISAs transferred.

I've had lots of experience with other providers and none are particularly on the ball.

I'd rather rely on FD than Santander which drove me bonkers for a couple of months last year. Yeah I know I should've known better!
