LLoyds TSB branch sell off - For customers who wish to stay with Lloyds

  • Can anyone give me the dedicated phone number to register the wish to stay with lloyds? I did have it but lost it. I've told them 3 times now that I don't want to go to another bank and each time been told I will receive more info in due course on how to switch to another lloyds branch.

The final straw is that I'm now being told I can't use the phone banking number that I usually ring. Can someone help please?

I gather you mean accounts held with Lloyds TSB Bank rather than some ban on English ex-pats themselves ;)

Lloyds TSB Scotland has always been a separate bank; it's just use of counter facilities. The closest branch of their bank will remain in the north of England.

They could have kept all Lloyds TSB branches but they chose to get rid of the TSB rather than Halifax & BOS.

So is May 13 the day when English ex-pats living in Scotland discover that their nearest branch is in Berwick-on-Tweed?

This is alarming, and it doesn't only affect Verde customers. It would be a half-day round trip for me to visit the non-Verde branch where most of my accounts are held. I've never been there. The only branches I've ever set foot in are Verde branches, which I'll no longer be able to use. Is anybody going to tell me about this, or do I only find out when I roll into my "usual" branch and get told I don't bank there any more?

Do Lloyds want it all to blow up so the regulators have to call it off?

Lloyds TSB are making such a mess of things lately!

Firstly, they changed the account number for my mastercard ( the 16 digit number to make the payment online!) Had I not checked the statement carefully, then I would have missed the fact the 16 digit reference number, which is the 16 digits on the card had changed, along with the sort code for the payment. No notification of this happening, so had I used the payment details already stored in my banking, then it may not have went through properly!!!

Secondly, I noticed for the past few days, I was unable to use my card online. Today, a brand new card comes through, unexpected with a new 16 digit number etc, telling me to discard the new one as it would not work. I had no notice that I would be receiving a new card ; I'm just back from Australia so it would have been a disaster had I taken that card over there with me ; it would have stopped working and I'd have been unable to get any money.

The lack of communication regarding the whole seperation etc is ridiculous really.

I have a similar problem to most of the other posts, but an issue was raised when I went to my bank which i haven't seen so far; but I may have missed a reference to it. I have been with Lloyds for 40+ years and I want to stay with them, simply because I use my local branch which is staying lloyds (the branch where my account is held is becoming TSB, but I never use that branch anyway). I was told I can transfer but this will affect my credit score. Is this true, after all I will only be transferring from the bank I have been with for 40 years to the same bank.

You will need to open a new account, which includes a credit check. I suspect that this and the effect of the 'new' bank account will be what affects your credit score.

They're only trying to scare you. Opening a current account isn't going to seriously hurt your credit.

I contacted Lloyds in April and got a letter dated 15th April from Catherine Kehoe the 'Director, Brands and Marketing' acknowledging the fact that I wished to stay with Lloyds TSB. I was more than a little annoyed when yesterday i received a new Visa Debit card with a note to say 'As your account is among those that are included in the transfer, we are giving you a new debit card'

It also includes new telephone numbers for customer services.

I have written back to Ms Kehoe deploring the offhand way Lloyds treats their customers. Meantime i rang the transfer helpline who assured me that my account was still flagged as being one of those which had registered to stay with Lloyds, they just hadn't got round to processing all their customers yet. I was promised another letter confirming my wishes... we shall see.
